There are conditions for getting white clothes

In the Old Testament we can read about God’s instructions for how the israelites were supposed to cleanse themselves. God didn’t use a magic wand to cleanse them but THEY had to make sure to arrange things in such a way that they could be declared rightfully purified and cleansed by God. Whoever wanted to be cleansed had to wash both himself and his clothes, and not until then could he come into the camp. This actually works as a good picture of the requirements for entering the kingdom of God, because filthy sinners are not able to enter his kingdom but only those who are cleansed from their sins and considered righteous.

Leviticus 14:8 And he that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave off all his hair, and wash himself in water, that he may be clean: and after that he shall come into the camp, and shall tarry abroad out of his tent seven days

Numbers 31:24 And ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean, and afterward ye shall come into the camp.

Numbers 8:21 21 And the Levites were purified, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them as an offering before the Lord; and Aaron made an atonement for them to cleanse them.

In the book of Zacharia, we can read about Zacharia seeing Joshua, the high priest, standing before the angel of the Lord in filthy garments.  The filthy garments symbolise bad deeds, and these bad deeds/iniquities were removed from Joshua and he was clothed with new garments. Joshua was also told about the conditions involved for being able to judge the house of the Lord and to be able to keep his courts. So a certain task was offered to Joshua, but then he must make sure to walk in God’s ways and keep his commandments. This is something that WE must accomplish and something that God doesn’t do for us.

Zacharia 3:1 And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.2 And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.5 And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord stood by.6 And the angel of the Lord protested unto Joshua, saying,7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.

Just like the angels, Jesus in his translated/perfected form is often described as a man with shiny white clothes:

Rev. 1:12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

Matt 17:1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

Mark 9:3 And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them.

Apg. 10:30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,31 And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee.

Matt 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

Lukas 24: 1 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

Johannes 20:12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

The two angels who were in and near Jesus’ grave (some accounts focus only on one of the angels) could be the same ones as the two men/angels in Acts 1:10:

Apg 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

John received a revelation from God and was told that God actually sees the works of man even if it concerns believers (and the sins are not hidden behind the blood of Jesus), and also that the church in Sardis should be watchful to strengthen the things which are about to die. Why are they about to die? Because their works are not perfect before God. They are told to repent in order to avoid the risk of dying. We are also told that there are some individuals in the church of Sardis who had not defiled their clothes, and that whosoever overcomes (that is the one who endures to the end) will be dressed in white garments and his name will not be blotted out of the book of life, but will be acknowledged by the Father and the angels. 

Rev. 3:1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

In the same chapter we can read that God is also aware of the works in the church of the Laodiceans, and the same thing applies there that the deeds play a big role for their salvation. The church members might very well have believed in God and the offer that Jesus made for them, but this doesn’t save them if they are lukewarm och don’t show the works that God expects to find in them. The church gets the advice to buy gold from God which is tried in fire, and in that way get enough money to buy white clothes. This is something that God will not force us to do, nor will he do it for us. Had it been up to God of course he would dress up every single human being in white clothes (he doesn’t want anyone to perish), but naturally he won’t clothe unrepentant sinners with white garments because of the conditions he has for salvation.

Rev. 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

In the same book we can read about twenty-four elders in white raiment and with golden crowns on their heads, and also about a great multitude with white robes standing before the throne and the lamb. We are told what kind of crowd this is and why they are wearing white clothes. These people are the ones who have come out of the great tribulation under the rule of Antichrist, and who have washed their clothes and made them white in the blood of the lamb. We wouldn’t be able to get cleansed apart from 1) the blood of the Lamb and 2) our repentance, faith and obedience. 

Rev.4:4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.

Rev. 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Rev. 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

Rev. 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

Rev. 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

We also have the well known parable in Matthew 22, about the king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. Some people who were on the guest list and presumed to come still declined the invitation when they were requested to go. Instead others were invited. One particular person accepted the invitation and also went to the wedding banquet BUT neglected to wear wedding clothes so was kicked out. It was the guests’ own responsibility to make sure they were dressed in proper wedding clothes. So thanks to this parable we can see that 1) people were able to refuse to accept the invitation despite that they were expected to go, and 2) people were able to make the choice to accept the invitation, and they also went, BUT were still kicked out of the banquet because they were not properly dressed which was their own fault and a huge mistake, and 3) people who accepted the invitation, and who went to the banquet, AND who were properly dressed, were the ones who eventually could take part of all the blessings of the party that ALL were invited to.

Matt. 22:9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Tävla för segerkransen och låt ingen ta din krona!

Det grekiska ordet στέφανον (stephanon) översätts med krona eller segerkrans i Bibeln. Segerkransar av kvistar och löv från lagerträdet är vad vinnarna i Olympiska idrottstävlingar vanligtvis fick som vinst förr i tiden, och förstås en enormt stor ÄRA.

Vi kan läsa om lagern att den blev guden Apollos attribut sedan nymfen Dafne förvandlats till ett lagerträd för att undgå gudens förförelseförsök. Vid de pythiska spelen i Delfi infördes bruket av lagerkransen som segrarsymbol. Under Romarriket utdelades lagerkransen till personer som utfört hjältedåd på slagfältet eller till människor som vid risken av sitt eget liv räddade romerska medborgare från döden. En känd mottagare av denna hedersbetygelse är Julius Caesar. Lagerkransen var den ultimata utmärkelsen i Rom, och den som vann den kunde under resten av sitt liv bära den, och det innebar att han skulle betygas respekt och heder av alla. En speciell omständighet var att om en vinnare av lagerkransen kom för att se på kapplöpningarna eller gladiatorspelen på Cirkus Maximus, så var samtliga närvarande tvungna att resa sig för att visa honom heder!

Så det faktum att Paulus använde segerkransen som en bild av vår strävan efter att få LIVETS KRONA är lätt att förstå eftersom det är något som läsarna och åhörarna kan ta till sig och förstå. Det är verkligen inte fy skam att vara först över mållinjen i en stor idrottstävling, men det är förstås ännu bättre att vinna LIVETS KRONA som aldrig vissnar!

1 Kor. 9:24 Vet ni inte att av alla löparna som springer på en tävlingsbana är det bara en som får priset? Spring så att ni vinner det. 25 Men alla som tävlar underkastar sig i allt hård träning – de för att vinna en segerkrans som vissnar, vi för att vinna en som aldrig vissnar.26 Jag löper alltså inte utan att ha målet i sikte. Jag boxas inte likt en som slår i tomma luften. 27 I stället slår jag min kropp och tvingar den till lydnad, för att jag inte själv på något sätt skall komma till korta vid provet, när jag predikar för andra.

Jesus fick som bekant en krona av TÖRNE på sitt huvud som soldaterna flätade ihop, och de klädde honom även i en purpur röd mantel. Det är ganska intressant eftersom det liknar den ceremoni som på den tiden vanligtvis väntade den militära fältherre som vunnit en förkrossande seger över sin fiende vid sin återkomst till Rom i ett triumftåg. Detta innebar att han kunde tåga in i Rom med sina soldater, sitt krigsbyte och sina fångar, och själv var han klädd i en toga färgad helt i purpur (den kungliga och kejserliga färgen). Hans ansikte var målat rött precis som Jupiter-statyn i det största jupitertemplet. Han åkte på en vagn dragen av fyra vita hästar, och bakom honom på vagnen stod en slav som höll en lagerkrans över hans huvud.

Johannes 19:2 Och soldaterna flätade en krona av törne och satte på hans huvud och klädde honom i en purpurröd mantel.

Kravet för att få livets krona är att vi älskar Jesus och är trogna intill döden. Även om vi är utlovade en krona IDAG eftersom vi lever i lydnad och trofasthet, så kan detta ändras i morgon om vi inte längre håller Guds bud och föredrar att leva i ljumhet. Vi måste se upp!:

Jakobsbrevet 1:12Salig är den som håller ut i prövningen, ty när han har bestått sitt prov skall han få livets krona, som Gud har lovat dem som ÄLSKAR honom.

Uppenbarelseboken 2:10 Var inte rädd för vad du kommer att få lida. Se, djävulen skall kasta några av er i fängelse för att ni skall sättas på prov, och under tio dagar kommer ni att få utstå lidanden. Var trogen intill döden, så skall jag ge dig livets krona.

1 Petrusbrevet 5:3 Uppträd inte som herrar över dem som kommit på er lott, utan var föredömen för hjorden. 4 När den högste herden uppenbarar sig skall ni få härlighetens segerkrans, som aldrig vissnar.

Uppenbarelseboken 3:11 Jag kommer snart. Håll fast det du har, så att ingen tar din krona.

När Jesus kommer tillbaka kommer han att ha en krona av guld på sitt huvud.

Uppenbarelseboken 14:14 Och jag såg, och se: ett vitt moln, och på molnet satt en som liknade Människosonen. På sitt huvud hade han en krona av guld och i sin hand en skarp skära.

Jesaja 28:5 På den dagen skall HERREN Sebaot bli en härlig krona och en strålande krans för kvarlevan av sitt folk.

I Gamla Testamentet kan vi också läsa om kronor, men då är förstås ordet inte skrivet på grekiska

Kung David använde en kungakrona vid åtminstone ett ceremoniellt tillfälle, och förmodligen användes den inte till vardags med tanke på hur tung den var!

2 Samuelsbokem 12:30 Han tog kronan från huvudet på deras kung. Den vägde en talent guld och var prydd med ädla stenar, och man satte den på Davids huvud. Och det byte han förde ut ur staden var mycket stort.

En kungason är verkligen starkt förknippad med en krona:

Krönikeboken 23:11 Sedan förde de ut kungasonen och satte på honom kronan och gav honom vittnesbördet och gjorde honom till kung. Jojada och hans söner smorde honom och ropade: “Leve konungen!”

Även drottningar använder som bekant en krona:

Ester 2:17 Kungen älskade Ester mer än alla de andra kvinnorna, och hon vann hans ynnest och välvilja mer än alla de andra unga kvinnorna. Han satte den kungliga kronan på hennes huvud och gjorde henne till drottning i Vastis ställe.

Haman tyckte också att det var passande att en häst skulle bära den kungliga kronan, och Kungen accepterade förslaget:

Ester 6:6 När Haman kom in, frågade kungen honom: “Vad skall man göra med den man som kungen vill hedra?” Haman tänkte i sitt hjärta: “Vem skulle kungen vilja hedra mer än mig?” 7 Därför sade Haman till kungen: “Åt den man som konungen vill hedra 8 skall man hämta en kunglig dräkt, som konungen själv har burit, och en häst, som konungen själv har ridit på och som har en kunglig krona på huvudet.—10 Då sade kungen till Haman: “Skynda dig, ta dräkten och hästen och gör så som du har sagt med juden Mordokaj som sitter i kungens port. Försumma inte något av det du sagt.”

Job upplevde att hans krona tagits från hans huvud:

Job 19:Han har spärrat min väg så att jag ej kommer fram,över mina stigar lägger han mörker.9 Han har klätt av mig min ära  och tagit kronan från mitt huvud.10 Han bryter ner mig från alla sidor, så att jag går under.

Etan upplevde att Herren vanärat Davids krona och kastat den till marken:

Psaltaren 21:1 För sångmästaren, en psalm av David.2 Herre, över din makt gläder sig kungen, hur stor är inte hans glädje över din frälsning!3 Vad hans hjärta önskar ger du honom,vad hans läppar begär vägrar du honom inte. Sela.4 Ty du möter honom med rika välsignelser, du sätter en krona av rent guld på hans huvud.5 Han bad dig om liv och du gav honom det,ett långt liv alltid och för evigt.6 Stor är hans härlighet genom din frälsning, majestät och glans ger du honom.

Psaltaren 89:11 En sång av esraiten Etan.—En gång har jag svurit vid min helighet,och mitt löfte till David skall jag inte bryta.37 Hans efterkommande skall bestå för evigt och hans tron inför mig så länge som solen, 38 som månen skall den bestå för evigt.Och trofast är vittnet i skyn.” Sela.39 Men nu har du i vrede stött bort och förkastat din smorde.40 Du har upplöst förbundet med din tjänare, du har vanärat hans krona och kastat den till marken.41 Du har brutit ner alla hans murar och lagt hans fästen i spillror.

En krona är symbolen för välsignelse, ära och lycka:

Ordspråksboken 12:4En idog hustru är sin mans krona, en skamlös är som röta i hans ben.

Ordspråksboken 14:24 De visas krona är deras rikedom, dårarnas dumhet är dumhet.

Ordspråksboken 17:6 Barnbarn är de gamlas krona, barnens stolthet är deras fäder.

En krona kan förloras pga synd:

Jeremia 13:17 Men vill ni inte höra på detta, skall jag i det fördolda gråta över sådant högmod. Bittert gråter jag och tårar strömmar från mina ögon, därför att Herrens hjord förs bort i fångenskap.18 Säg till kungen och kungamodern:  Stig ner från er tron, ty den praktfulla kronan har fallit från era huvuden.19 Städerna i Negev är stängda och ingen finns som öppnar dem.Hela Juda är bortfört i fångenskap, ja, bortfört helt och hållet.

Klagovisarna 5:Glädjen är borta från vårt hjärta, vår dans är förvandlad till sorg.16 Kronan har fallit från vårt huvud. Ve oss, att vi syndade så!17 Därför har också vårt hjärta blivit sjukt och därför är våra ögon förmörkade. 18 Sions berg ligger öde och rävar strövar omkring på det.

Hesekiel 21:24 Därför säger Herren, Herren så: Eftersom ni väcker upp minnet av er missgärning, så att era överträdelser har blivit uppenbara och er synd visar sig i allt vad ni gör, eftersom minnet av er har blivit uppväckt, därför skall ni komma att gripas med våld. 25 Och du dödligt sårade, ogudaktige furste över Israel, din dag kommer då din missgärning har nått sin gräns. 26 Så säger Herren, Herren: Tag av dig huvudbindeln, lyft av dig kronan! Allt skall inte förbli som det nu är. Det som är lågt skall upphöjas, och det som är högt skall förödmjukas.

Sakaria 9:16 HERREN, deras Gud, skall frälsa dem på den dagen, ty de är hans hjord, hans folk. De är ädelstenar i en krona, strålande över hans land.

Det finns villkor för att få vita kläder

I gamla testamentet kan vi läsa om Guds instruktioner för hur israelerna skulle rena sig. Gud använde sig inte utav något trollspö för att göra dem rena utan DE var tvungna att själva se till att sätta sig i en sådan position att de kunde förklaras rena. Den som skulle renas fick lov att bada och tvätta sina kläder, och först då kunde personen få komma in i lägret. Detta är faktiskt en bra bild på villkoret för att få komma in i Guds rike. Smutsiga syndare kommer inte dit in, utan endast de rena och rättfärdiga.

3 Mosebok 14:8 Den som skall renas skall tvätta sina kläder och raka av allt sitt hår och bada i vatten, så blir han ren och får sedan gå in i lägret. Men han skall stanna utanför sitt tält i sju dagar.

4 Mosebok 31:24 På sjunde dagen skall ni tvätta era kläder och så vara rena. Därefter får ni gå in i lägret.”

4 Mosebok 8:21 Leviterna renade sig och tvättade sina kläder, och Aron förde fram dem såsom ett viftoffer inför HERRENS ansikte, och Aron bringade försoning för dem och renade dem.

I Sakarjas bok kan vi läsa om Sakarja som fick se en bild av översteprästen Josua ståendes inför Herrens ängel i orena kläder. De smutsiga kläderna symboliserade missgärningar, och dessa missgärningar/orenheter togs ifrån Joshua och han fick klä sig i nya högtidskläder. Joshua fick också höra de villkor som han måste klara för att få en styrande roll i Herrens hus och kunna vakta i hans förgårdar. En viss plats var given åt Joshua, men då måste han först se till att han vandrar på Herrens vägar och håller hans befallningar. Det är något som alltid hänger på oss att göra.

Sakaria 3:1 Sedan lät han mig se översteprästen Josua stå inför Herrens ängel, och Satan stod vid hans högra sida för att anklaga honom. 2 Men Herren sade till Satan: ” Herren skall straffa dig, Satan. Ja, Herren skall straffa dig, han som har utvalt Jerusalem. Är då inte denne en brand ryckt ur elden?”3 Josua var klädd i orena kläder, där han stod inför ängeln. 4 Och ängeln sade till dem som stod inför honom: “Tag av honom de orena kläderna.” Sedan sade han till Josua: “Se, jag har tagit din missgärning från dig, och jag skall klä dig i högtidskläder.” 5 Då sade jag: “Sätt också en ren bindel på hans huvud.” Och de satte en ren bindel på hans huvud och tog på honom kläderna, medan Herrens ängel stod där.6 Och Herrens ängel försäkrade Josua och sade: 7 “Så säger Herren Sebaot: Om du vandrar på mina vägar och håller mina befallningar, så skall du få styra mitt hus  och vakta mina förgårdar. Du skall få en plats att vandra på  bland dem som står här.

Precis som änglarna är den himmelska Jesus ofta beskriven som en man med skinande vita kläder:

Upp. 1:12 Jag vände mig om för att se rösten som talade med mig. Och när jag vände mig om, såg jag sju ljusstakar av guld 13 och mitt ibland ljusstakarna en som liknade Människosonen, klädd i en fotsid klädnad och omgjordad med ett bälte av guld om bröstet.14 Hans huvud och hår var vitt som vit ull, som snö, och hans ögon var som eldslågor.15 Hans fötter liknade skinande malm som glöder i smältugnen, och hans röst lät som dånet av väldiga vatten. 16 I sin högra hand höll han sju stjärnor, och ur hans mun gick ett tveeggat, skarpt svärd, och hans ansikte lyste som solen, när den skiner i all sin kraft.

Matt 17:1 Sex dagar därefter tog Jesus med sig Petrus och Jakob och hans bror Johannes och förde dem upp på ett högt berg för att vara ensam med dem. 2 Och han förvandlades inför dem: hans ansikte lyste som solen, och hans kläder blev vita som ljuset

Mark. 9:3 Hans kläder blev skinande vita, så vita som ingen tygberedare på jorden kan göra några kläder.

Apg. 10:30 Kornelius svarade: “För fyra dagar sedan just vid den här tiden, den nionde timmen, var jag här hemma och bad. Och se, en man i skinande kläder stod framför mig31 och sade: Kornelius, Gud har hört din bön och kommer ihåg dina gåvor. 32 Skicka nu bud till Joppe och be Simon som kallas Petrus att komma hit. Han bor som gäst i garvaren Simons hus vid havet.

Matt 28:1  Efter sabbaten, i gryningen den första veckodagen, gick Maria från Magdala och den andra Maria för att besöka graven. 2 Och se, då blev det en stor jordbävning, ty en Herrens ängel steg ner från himlen. Han gick fram och rullade bort stenen och satte sig på den.3 Hans utseende var som blixten, och hans kläder var vita som snö

Lukas 24: På den första dagen i veckan gick de tidigt på morgonen till graven med de välluktande kryddor som de hade gjort i ordning. 2 De fann att stenen var bortrullad från graven 3 och gick in men fann inte Herren Jesu kropp. 4 När de inte visste vad de skulle tro, se, då stod två män i skinande kläder framför dem

Johannes 20:12 Hon fick då se två änglar i vita kläder sitta där Jesu kropp hade legat, den ene vid huvudets plats, den andre vid fötternas.

De två änglarna som befann sig vid Jesu grav (vissa berättelser fokuserar endast på en av änglarna) kan ha varit desamma som de två männen/änglarna i Apg. 1:10:

Apostagärningarna 1:9 Då han hade sagt detta, såg de hur han lyftes upp, och ett moln tog honom ur deras åsyn. 10 Medan de såg mot himlen dit han for upp, se, då stod två män i vita kläder hos dem. 11 Och de sade: “Ni män från Galileen, varför står ni och ser mot himlen? Denne Jesus som har blivit upptagen från er till himlen, han skall komma igen på samma sätt som ni har sett honom fara upp till himlen.”

Johannes fick veta genom en uppenbarelse att Gud faktiskt känner till människornas gärningar även om de är troende (och att de inte är gömda bakom Jesu blod) och att församlingen i Sardes verkligen borde vakna upp eftersom de är nära att DÖ. Varför är de nära att dö? Jo, för att deras GÄRNINGAR inte är fullkomliga inför Gud. De är tillsagda att omvända sig för att undgå den fruktansvärda risken att dö. Vi får också veta att det finns några i Sardis församling som inte smutsat ner sina kläder, och att den som segrar (det är den som håller ut till slutet) ska få bli klädd i vita kläder och deras namn ska kännas vid av Fadern och änglarna.

Upp. 3:Skriv till församlingens ängel i Sardes: Så säger han som har Guds sju andar och de sju stjärnorna: Jag känner dina gärningar. Du har namnet om dig att du lever, men du är död. 2 Vakna upp och håll dig vaken och stärk det som är kvar och som var nära att dö. Ty jag har inte funnit att dina GÄRNINGAR är FULLKOMLIGA inför min Gud. 3 Kom därför ihåg vad du har tagit emot och hört, och håll fast vid det och omvänd dig. Om du inte håller dig vaken skall jag komma som en tjuv, och du skall inte veta vilken stund jag kommer över dig. 4 Men du har några få i Sardes som inte har smutsat ner sina kläder, och de skall vandra tillsammans med mig i vita kläder, ty de är värdiga. 5 Den som segrar skall alltså bli klädd i vita kläder, och jag skall aldrig stryka ut hans namn ur livets bok utan kännas vid hans namn inför min Fader och hans änglar. 

I samma kapitel kan vi läsa att Gud även känner till gärningarna i Laodiceas församling, och också där är det GÄRNINGARNA som spelar stor roll för deras frälsning. Församlingsmedlemmarna kan mycket väl ha trott på Gud och på Jesus försoningsdöd, men det räddar dem inte om de är ljumma och inte visar upp de gärningar som Gud förväntar sig. Församlingen får rådet att köpa guld som är renat i eld, och på så sätt få pengar att köpa vita kläder för. Detta är något som de måste GÖRA och som Gud inte tänker göra åt dem.

Upp. 3:14 Skriv till församlingens ängel i Laodicea: Så säger han som är Amen, det trovärdiga och sannfärdiga vittnet, upphovet till Guds skapelse: 15 Jag känner dina gärningar. Du är varken kall eller varm. Jag skulle önska att du vore kall eller varm. 16 Men eftersom du är ljum och varken varm eller kall, skall jag spy ut dig ur min mun. 17 Du säger: Jag är rik, jag har vunnit rikedom och behöver ingenting, och du vet inte att just du är eländig, beklagansvärd, fattig, blind och naken. 18 Jag råder dig att av mig köpa guld som är renat i eld, så att du blir rik, och vita kläder att skyla dig med, så att din skamliga nakenhet inte syns, och salva att smörja dina ögon med, så att du kan se. 19 Alla som jag älskar tillrättavisar och tuktar jag. Var därför ivrig och omvänd dig. 20 Se, jag står vid dörren och klappar på. Om någon hör min röst och öppnar dörren, skall jag gå in till honom och hålla måltid med honom och han med mig. 21 Den som segrar skall få sitta hos mig på min tron, liksom jag själv har segrat och sitter hos min Fader på hans tron. 

I samma bok kan vi läsa om tjugofyra äldste i vita kläder och med guldkronor på sina huvuden, och även om en ENORMT stor skara från alla folkslag och länder som också har vita kläder, stående inför tronen och inför lammet. Vi får veta vad detta är för en slags skara och varför de har vita kläder. Det är de som räddats ur den stora nöden under Antikrists styre och DE har tvättat SINA kläder och därmed gjort dem vita i LAMMETS blod. (Vi skulle inte kunna bli rena utan 1) Lammets blod och 2) vår omvändelse och lydnad. )

Uppenbarelseboken 4:4 Runt omkring tronen stod tjugofyra troner, och på dessa troner satt tjugofyra äldste, klädda i vita kläder och med kronor av guld på huvudet.

Upp. 7:9Därefter såg jag, och se: en stor skara som ingen kunde räkna, av alla folkslag och stammar och länder och språk. De stod inför tronen och inför Lammet, klädda i vita kläder och med palmblad i händerna. 10 Och de ropade med hög röst: “Frälsningen tillhör vår Gud, honom som sitter på tronen, och Lammet.”11 Och alla änglar stod runt omkring tronen och kring de äldste och de fyra väsendena, och de föll ner på sina ansikten inför tronen och tillbad Gud 12 och sade:”Amen. Lovet och priset, visheten och tacksägelsen, äran, makten och väldet tillhör vår Gud i evigheternas evigheter.Amen.” 13 En av de äldste frågade mig: “Dessa som är klädda i vita kläder, vilka är de och varifrån har de kommit?” 14 Jag svarade: “Min herre, du vet det.” Då sade han till mig: “Dessa är de som kommer ur den stora nöden, och de har tvättat sina kläder och gjort dem vita i Lammets blod. 15 Därför står de inför Guds tron och tjänar honom dag och natt i hans tempel, och han som sitter på tronen skall slå upp sitt tabernakel över dem.16 De skall aldrig mer hungra eller törsta, inte heller skall solen eller någon annan hetta träffa dem.17 Ty Lammet som står mitt för tronen skall vara deras herde och leda dem till livets vattenkällor, och Gud skall torka bort alla tårar från deras ögon.”

Upp. 6:9 När Lammet bröt det femte sigillet, såg jag under altaret deras själar som hade blivit slaktade för Guds ords skull och för det vittnesbörd som de hade. 10 De ropade med hög röst: “Herre, du som är helig och sannfärdig, hur länge skall det dröja, innan du dömer jordens invånare och utkräver hämnd för vårt blod?” 11 Och åt var och en av dem gavs en vit klädnad, och de blev uppmanade att vara stilla ännu en liten tid, tills antalet av deras medtjänare och bröder, som skulle dödas liksom de, hade blivit fullt.

Upp. 19:7 Låt oss vara glada och jubla och ge honom äran.Ty Lammets bröllop har kommit, och hans brud har gjort sig redo.8 Åt henne har givits att klä sig i skinande, rent linnetyg.”Linnetyget är de heligas rättfärdighet.

Upp. 20: Och jag såg troner, och de som satt på dem fick rätt att döma. Och jag såg deras själar som hade halshuggits därför att de hade vittnat om Jesus och förkunnat Guds ord och inte hade tillbett vilddjuret och dess bild och inte tagit emot dess märke på pannan eller handen. De levde och regerade med Kristus i tusen år.

Sen har vi den välbekanta liknelsen i Matteus 22 om Kungen som förberedde ett bröllop för sin son. Tilltänkta gäster som fanns med på inbjudningslistan ville inte komma och då bjöds andra in i stället. En person tackade tydligen ja till inbjudan och kom till festen MEN han hade inte förberett sig med att ta på sig bröllopskläder. Det var gästernas eget ansvar.  Vi kan alltså se tack vare liknelsen att 1) några kan vägra att komma till festen trots att de är inbjudna och förväntas komma, 2) några kan visserligen tacka JA till festen och också KOMMA men ändå sparkas ut eftersom de inte har fina kläder på sig och 3) andra kan tacka ja och komma till festen OCH att anlända med fina kläder, och det är DE som får dra nytta av festens alla välsignelser.

Matt. 22:9 Gå därför till vägskälen och bjud till bröllopet alla som ni träffar på. 10 Tjänarna gick då ut på vägarna och samlade alla de mötte, både onda och goda, och bröllopssalen fylldes med gäster.11 När kungen kom in för att se sina gäster, lade han märke till en man som inte var klädd i bröllopskläder. 12 Han sade till honom: Min vän, hur har du kommit in utan bröllopskläder? Mannen teg. 13 Då sade kungen till tjänarna: Bind honom till händer och fötter och kasta ut honom i mörkret här utanför! Där skall man gråta och skära tänder.14 Ty många är kallade, men få är utvalda.”

Det kommer en NY jord – ett nytt Jerusalem

Det nya Jerusalem

Det finns några “Bibeltroende” (såsom Jehovas Vittnen och kristadelfianer) som inte tror att Gud kommer att skapa en ny jord (ett nytt Jerusalem), utan snarare att den nuvarande jorden bara kommer att förändras, men vad säger Bibeln? I Jesaja får vi en och samma bild av Guds kommande rike som den vi kan läsa om i Uppenbarelseboken. Vi kan läsa om en idealisk plats där inga tårar finns och ingen klagan, och detta kommer att ske på en NY jord:

Jesaja 65:17 Se, jag skapar nya himlar och en ny jord,och man skall inte mer komma ihåg det förgångna eller tänka på det. 18 Men fröjda er och jubla till evig tid över det som jag skapar,  ty se, jag skapar Jerusalem till jubel och dess folk till fröjd. 19 Jag skall jubla över Jerusalem, fröjda mig över mitt folk. Där skall inte mer höras gråt eller klagan. 20 Där skall inte mer finnas spädbarn som lever endast några dagar, inte heller gamla män som ej uppnår sina dagars mått. Den som dör vid hundra års ålder är en ung man, och först vid hundra års ålder skall syndaren drabbas av förbannelsen.—. 23 De skall inte arbeta förgäves, inte heller föda barn till en bråd död, ty de är en avkomma, välsignad av Herren, och deras efterkommande tillsammans med dem.24 Det skall ske att innan de ropar skall jag svara, medan de ännu talar skall jag höra. 25 Vargar skall gå i bet med lamm, lejon skall äta halm som oxar, och stoft skall vara ormens föda. Ingenstans på mitt heliga berg skall de göra något ont eller skadligt, säger Herren.

Jesaja 66:22 Ty liksom de nya himlarna och den nya jorden, som jag skapar, blir bestående inför mig, så skall er avkomma och ert namn bestå, säger Herren.

Uppenbarelseboken 3:12 Den som segrar skall jag göra till en pelare i min Guds tempel, och han skall aldrig lämna det. På honom skall jag skriva min Guds namn och namnet på min Guds stad, det nya Jerusalem, som kommer ner från himlen, från min Gud, och mitt eget nya namn.

Upp. 6:12 Och jag såg när Lammet bröt det sjätte sigillet. Då blev det en stor jordbävning. Solen blev svart som en sorgdräkt, och hela månen blev som blod. 13 Himlens stjärnor föll ner på jorden, som när ett fikonträd fäller sina omogna frukter, när det skakas. 14 Och himlen försvann som när en bokrulle rullas ihop, och alla berg och öar flyttades från sin plats.—17 Ty deras vredes stora dag har kommit, och vem kan då bestå?”

Upp. 21:1Och jag såg en ny himmel och en ny jord. Ty den första himlen och den första jorden hade försvunnit, och havet fanns inte mer. 2 Och jag såg den heliga staden, det nya Jerusalem, komma ner från himlen, från Gud, redo som en brud, som är smyckad för sin brudgum. 3 Och jag hörde en stark röst från tronen säga: “Se, nu står Guds tabernakel bland människorna, och han skall bo hos dem och de skall vara hans folk, och Gud själv skall vara hos dem. 4 Och han skall torka alla tårar från deras ögon. Döden skall inte finnas mer och ingen sorg och ingen gråt och ingen plåga. Ty det som förr var är borta.”5 Han som satt på tronen sade: “Se, jag gör allting nytt.” Och han sade: “Skriv, ty dessa ord är trovärdiga och sanna.”—8 Men de fega, de otroende och de skändliga, mördarna, de otuktiga, trollkarlarna, avgudadyrkarna och alla lögnare skall få sin del i sjön som brinner av eld och svavel. Detta är den andra döden.”9 En av de sju änglarna med de sju skålarna, som var fyllda med de sju sista plågorna, kom och talade till mig och sade: “Kom, jag skall visa dig bruden, Lammets hustru.” 10 Och han förde mig i anden upp på ett stort och högt berg och visade mig den heliga staden Jerusalem, som kom ner från himlen, från Gud, 11 och som ägde Guds härlighet. Dess strålglans var som den dyrbaraste ädelsten, som en kristallklar jaspis.

 

Även Petrus berättar att himlarna ska försvinna och att jorden och de verk som är på den inte mer ska finnas till, och Johannes säger att världen ska förgås:

2 Petrus 3:10 Men Herrens dag kommer som en tjuv, och då skall himlarna försvinna under våldsamt dån och himlakroppar upplösas av hetta och jorden och de verk som är på den inte mer finnas till.11 Då nu allt detta går mot sin upplösning, hur heligt och gudfruktigt skall ni då inte leva, 12 medan ni väntar på Guds dag och påskyndar dess ankomst – den dag som får himlar att upplösas i eld och himlakroppar att smälta av hetta.13 Men nya himlar och en ny jord där rättfärdighet bor, väntar vi på efter hans löfte.

1 Joh. 2:17 Och världen och dess begär förgår, men den som gör Guds vilja förblir i evighet.

Gud själv säger att jorden och himlarna ska gå under. Gud vänder sig till Jesus (också Gud) och säger:

Hebr. 1:10 Och: Du, Herre, har i begynnelsen lagt jordens grund, och himlarna är dina händers verk.11 De skall gå under, men du förblir. De skall alla nötas ut som en klädnad.12 Som en mantel skall du rulla ihop dem, och som en klädnad skall de bytas ut. Men du är densamme, och dina år har inget slut.

Den enda vers som “ingen-ny-jord-förespråkarna” kan tänkas använda som stöd för sin teori är “Pred. 1:4 Släkten kommer, släkten går, men jorden står evigt kvar”, men om vi läser sammanhanget så ser vi att det handlar om predikarens betraktelser av det repeterade mönster han ser på jorden. Han beskriver skeenden som alltid har samma förlopp, släkte efter släkte, och han uttrycker detta med de orden vi läste ovan. Vad händer den dagen så alla dessa kretslopp och skeenden upphör? Det vet vi redan. Jorden försvinner och det blir en helt ny jord med ett helt annorlunda liv.

Pred. 1:Förgänglighet och åter förgänglighet! säger Predikaren. Förgänglighet och åter förgänglighet! Allt är förgängligt.3 Vad vinner en människa med all sin möda, som hon gör sig under solen?4 Släkten kommer, släkten går, men jorden står evigt kvar.5 Solen går upp och solen går ner och skyndar sedan åter till den plats där den går upp.6 Vinden far mot söder och vänder sig mot norr.Den vänder sig ständigt på sin färd fram och börjar sitt kretslopp på nytt.7 Floderna rinner alla ut i havet, och ändå blir havet aldrig fullt. Dit floderna runnit förut, rinner de åter.

Gud skapade jorden – via Jesus som är Gud

Vi kan läsa att Gud ENSAM skapat himmel och jord. Ingen var med honom:

Jesaja 44:24 Så säger Herren, din återlösare,  han som format dig alltifrån moderlivet: Jag, Herren, är den som har gjort allt, den som ENSAM har spänt ut himlen och brett ut jorden. Vem var med mig?

1 Mosebok 1:1 I begynnelsen skapade Gud himmel och jord.

2 Mosebok 20:11 Ty på sex dagar gjorde Herren himlen och jorden och havet och allt som är i dem, men på sjunde dagen vilade han. Därför har Herren välsignat sabbatsdagen och helgat den.

1 Samuelsboken 2:8 Han reser den ringe upp ur stoftet, ur dyn lyfter han upp den fattige för att sätta honom bland furstar. Ja, han låter honom ärva härlighetens tron. Ty jordens grundpelare är HERRENS, och på dem har han byggt världen.

Psaltaren 89:12 Din är himlen, din är också jorden. Du har grundat världen och allt som finns i den.

Psaltaren 90:2 Innan bergen blev till och du skapade jorden och världen, ja, från evighet till evighet är du, Gud.

Psalm 102: 25 Jag sade: Min Gud, tag inte bort mig mitt i livet, dina år varar från släkte till släkte.26 För länge sedan lade du jordens grund, himlarna är dina händers verk.

Jeremia 10:12 Han har skapat jorden genom sin kraft, han har grundat världen genom sin vishet, och genom sitt förstånd har han spänt ut himlen.

Jeremia 51:15 Han har skapat jorden genom sin kraft, han har grundat världen genom sin vishet, och genom sitt förstånd har han spänt ut himlen.

Jesaja 42: 5 Så säger Gud, Herren,  han som har skapat himlen och spänt ut den, han som har utbrett jorden med allt som växer där,han som har givit liv åt folket som bor där och ande åt dem som vandrar på den.

Markus 13:19 Ty det skall i de dagarna komma en sådan nöd att något liknande inte har förekommit sedan Gud i begynnelsen skapade världen, och inte heller skall komma.

Apostlagärningarna 4:24 När de hörde det, ropade de endräktigt till Gud och bad: “Herre, du som har skapat himmel, jord och hav och allt som är i dem,

Apostlagärningarna 14:15 “Människor, vad är det ni gör? Vi är människor som ni. Vi predikar för er det glada budskapet att ni skall omvända er från dessa avgudar till den levande Guden, som har skapat himmel, jord och hav och allt som är i dem.

Apostlagärningarna 17:24 Gud är den som har skapat världen och allt som är i den. Han som är Herre över himmel och jord bor inte i tempel som är gjorda av människohand.

Romarbrevet 1:20 Ända från världens skapelse ses och uppfattas hans osynliga egenskaper, hans eviga makt och gudomliga natur genom de verk som han har skapat. Därför är de utan ursäkt

Hebreerbrevet 11:3 Genom tron förstår vi att världen har skapats genom ett ord från Gud, så att det vi ser inte har blivit till av något synligt

Eftersom vi också kan läsa att JESUS skapat himmel och jord förstår vi att han måste vara GUD (såvida vi inte föredrar att tro att Bibeln har fel). Det är också vad resten av Bibeln intygar. Läs om mer support för treenigheten här. 

Hebreerbrevet 1:Hebr. 1:1 Sedan Gud (Theos) i forna tider många gånger och på många sätt hade talat till fäderna genom profeterna, 2 har han nu i den sista tiden talat till oss genom sin Son. Honom har han insatt till att ärva allting, och genom honom har han också skapat världen. .—9 Du älskar rättfärdighet och hatar orättfärdighet. Därför, Gud (Theos), har din Gud (Theos) smort dig med glädjens olja mer än dina medbröder.10 Och: Du, Herre, har i begynnelsen lagt jordens grund, och himlarna är dina händers verk.

Kol. 1:13 Ty han har frälst oss från mörkrets välde och försatt oss i sin älskade Sons rike.14 I honom hava vi förlossningen, förlåtelsen för våra synder,15 i honom som är den osynlige Gudens avbild och förstfödd före allt skapat. 16 Ty i honom skapades allt i himmelen och på jorden, synligt såväl som osynligt, både tronänglar och herrar och furstar och väldigheter i andevärlden. Alltsammans har blivit skapat genom honom och till honom.17 Ja, han är till före allt annat, och alltsammans äger bestånd i honom. 

Joh. 1:1 I begynnelsen var Ordet, och Ordet var hos Gud, och Ordet var Gud. 2 Han var i begynnelsen hos Gud. 3 Genom honom har allt blivit till, och utan honom har inget blivit till, som är till. 4 I honom var liv, och livet var människornas ljus. 5 Och ljuset lyser i mörkret, och mörkret har inte övervunnit det.6 En man trädde fram, sänd av Gud. Hans namn var Johannes. 7 Han kom som ett vittne för att vittna om ljuset, för att alla skulle komma till tro genom honom. 8 Själv var han inte ljuset, men han kom för att vittna om ljuset.9 Det sanna ljuset, som ger ljus åt alla människor, skulle nu komma till världen. 10 Han var i världen och världen hade blivit till genom honom, och världen kände honom inte. 11 Han kom till sitt eget, och hans egna tog inte emot honom. 12 Men åt alla som tog emot honom gav han rätt att bli Guds barn, åt dem som tror på hans namn. 13 De är inte födda av blod eller av köttets vilja eller av någon mans vilja utan av Gud.14 Och Ordet blev kött och bodde bland oss, och vi såg hans härlighet, en härlighet som den Enfödde har av Fadern, och han var full av nåd och sanning. 15 Johannes vittnar om honom och ropar: “Det var om honom jag sade: Han som kommer efter mig är före mig, eftersom han var före mig.” 16 Av hans fullhet har vi alla fått, nåd och åter nåd. 17 Ty lagen gavs genom Mose, nåden och sanningen kom genom Jesus Kristus. 18 Ingen har någonsin sett Gud. Den Enfödde, som själv är Gud, och är hos Fadern, har gjort honom känd. 

When should we rebuke and when should we show meekness and gentleness?

Jesus rarely used strong words 

There are only a few occasions in the Bible where we can see Jesus using some “strong words” and where he called people “names”, but unfortunately these rare occasions are often used by christians to justify their own usage of strong wordings and bad names whenever they feel like using them and regardless of circumstances.   What about all other cases where Jesus did not use such strong words and simply corrected people with gentleness? If we are supposed to throw insults around us when preaching and call people names, then it’s odd that the Bible doesn’t seem to encourage this kind of behavior, and Jesus himself didn’t act that way. Maybe it’s just ONE particular sermon (Matt. 23:13-33) which people use to support their own sometimes harsh behavior when evangelizing. 

Once Jesus did turn over of the money changers’ table but this is only one example (and an unusual one) where Jesus took severe actions, and he had good reasons to be upset when these people turned the temple of God into a house of merchandise (den of thieves).  Jesus had the right to cleanse his own Father’s house.  We are never told to act in a similar way. We are not told to enter a church and grab a christmas tree we might find there and throw it out while shouting that the entire church must repent. If we would like people to LISTEN to us and IMPROVE, there are likely better ways to handle such situations.  It’s a risk that our gospel causes a stir even if we are nothing but polite and respectful, so to make matters worse by being insulting or loud doesn’t make much sense. We would risk to find closed doors instead of open doors, when we try to reach people.

It’s true that Jesus called certain scribes and pharisees (and lawyers as per the gospel of Luke) for “hypocrites” and “fools and blind”, but he made sure to explain why he felt they were so both they and other listeners would understand the reasoning and the risks involved, and so they would LEARN something. There are lots of negative things we could call a person and we wouldn’t necessarily be unbiblical by doing so, like calling someone greedy, slanderous, lazy, argumentative, proud, dishonest, etc but we would be in error if we used these adjectives without legitimate reasons and without explaining WHY. It’s not always clever to put words on what we THINK about a person – or to blurt out “you jerk” – because it wouldn’t result in anything beneficial for anyone. The idea is to make people LISTEN and not to make them so upset that they leave and miss out on important information that you might have for them.

We are told to treat others the way we would like to be treated ourselves, and if we are to be criticized personally (not in groups) we would likely prefer to be corrected privately and by close friends and in LOVE. At other times rebuke is more appropriate, but that usually concerns repeated offences and/or pastors/teachers who have committed serious sins and must be openly rebuked. Jesus of course knew exactly when to correct people in meekness and when to rebuke, but it’s clear that many of us miss the mark. With common love and respect we can get far. See below that Jesus made sure to explain the reasoning behind naming the scribes and the pharisees “hypocrites” (I left out some verses) so that all involved could LEARN and UNDERSTAND.

Matt. 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.—17 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?.19 Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?20 And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon–27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.—33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city

John the Baptiste was the first one who used the term “generation of vipers” but also John explained what he meant with this description, and so did Jesus who used the same term. Dishing out insults without providing explanations is very distant for holy men.

Matthew 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Matt. 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas

In another situation Jesus did not choose to say “woe to you pharisees” but gently explained to a pharisee named Simon what was wrong with his attitude. He corrected him in love without using name callings, but also without compromising. Jesus also called Herod a “fox”, and this fact is sometimes used by christians to justify all kinds of humiliating names for others. 

Luke 7:36 And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to meat.37 —39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

Luke 13:31 The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee.32 And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.

Also Paul ended up in many situations where he could rebuke people but still chose not to. He also warned against vain discussions, but at times discussions are profitable and Paul himself spent a good deal of his time doing so in order to convert people. We can read that he reasoned with people and disputed with them.

Acts 17:2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,3 Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.4 And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.

Acts 17:16Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.  17Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.

Acts 19:8And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God. 9But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus. 10And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

Acts. 20:.29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

Acts. 28:23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening. 24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

On March Hill in Athens Paul could have rebuked all those people who believed in false gods, but he used a different approach. He didn’t shout “Repent, all you wicked sinners” nor told them that they were a bunch of heretical idolaters who were on the way to HELL. He managed to get their attention without humiliating them, and he just informed them that they were too superstitious and then he proceeded to explain why they were off the mark. He was smart enough to start off his talk by linking their worship of false gods to the real God. In that way he did not stir up anger or caused hurt feelings but made people listen. Naturally Paul did not compromise with the truth, nor was he watering down the gospel. It’s equally important to explain to people that they are in a lost condition due to their sins, as well as telling them how they can get saved.

Acts 17:23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, To The Unknown God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

The Bible says it’s the one who spreads  heretical views who is the one causing a division

If you’re in a group of  “christian heretics” and you try to correct them and exhort them, then YOU are not the one sinning by “causing a division” because the division has already happened. (But of course you are responsible for correcting people wisely, if you feel a correction is needed.) As soon as christians start to teach things which are contrary to the Bible, there is a risk for divisions and if the result is that the majority start to side with a certain heretical view then they might feel that a person who opposes them is the one being a trouble maker and who causes a division among them just because they themselves are in the majority and because they are not the ones correcting/rebuking anyone. But it’s always the one who promotes falsehood (against the Bible) who is the one causing a division or strife, even if he/she happens to be supported by an entire church or a large scope of churches.

It’s not always wise to keep quiet in order to be friendly and to avoid causing a division. Sometimes it’s unbiblical to NOT correct others – and even rebuke when necessary.  We are responsible for not letting dangerous teachings spread among us. If we don’t react, there is a risk for that even more people will be deceived by false teachings and this could lead to LOST SOULS and we might get blood on our hands.  It’s not loving to tell a person that all is well with his soul when it isn’t. It’s likewise unwise to rebuke people when the situation doesn’t call for it.  We just have to pray to the Lord that we get wisdom about this so we won’t hurt people or make them feel that we are condescending towards them.

GENTLENESS and MEEK CORRECTIONS IN LOVE

Matthew 18:15Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. 16But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. 17And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

Luke 6:26 Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

1 Tim. 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

REBUKING and CORRECTION in The New Testament

Luke 12:51 Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division.

Luke 17:3-5 Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.

Acts 20:28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood. For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. Also from AMONG YOURSELVES men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to DRAW AWAY THE DISCIPLES after themselves.–31Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

Romans 16:17-18 Now I beseech you, brethren, MARK THEM WHICH CAUSE DIVISIONS AND OFFENCES CONTRARY TO THE DOCTRINE WHICH YE HAVE LEARNED; and avoid them. REBUKING and CORRECTION in The Old Testament

2 Chronicles 19:10 ye shall even warn them that they trespass not against the LORD, and so wrath come upon you, and upon your brethren: this do, and ye shall not trespass.

Malachi 2:17 Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?

Ezekiel 13:22 Because with lies ye have strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life.

Ezekiel 3:20 Again, When a RIGHTEOUS man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die: because thou hast NOT GIVEN HIM WARNING, he shall DIE IN HIS SIN, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at THINE HAND. Nevertheless IF thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy SOUL.

Proverbs 9:8 Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

Proverbs 17:15 He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, eventhey both are abomination to the LORD

Proverbs 19:25 Smite a scorner, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, and he will understand knowledge.

Proverbs 25:12 As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear

Proverbs 24:25 But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.

Proverbs 27:5 Open rebuke is better than secret love.

Proverbs 28:23 He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.

Jesus, vår Gud, ger oss livgivande VATTEN

Herren, vår Gud, är källan med det levande vattnet. Livet har sitt ursprung i Honom och vi kan få ta del av det livgivande vattnet.

Jeremia 17:13 Herren är Israels hopp. Alla som överger dig kommer på skam. De som avfaller från mig liknar en skrift i sanden. De har övergivit Herren, källan med det levande vattnet. 

Jeremia säger att Guds folk gjort en stor synd – självklart helt emot Guds vilja – genom att överge Honom som är källan med det levande vattnet. Vi kan inte leva på jorden utan vatten, men det är ännu viktigare att få ta del av det vattnen som Jesus ger oss eftersom det ger liv till våra SJÄLAR.

Jeremia 2:13 Ty mitt folk har begått en dubbel synd: De har övergivit mig, källan med det levande vattnet, och gjort sig usla brunnar som inte håller vatten.

Även JESUS är sagd att vara källan till det levande vattnet. Det kan bara betyda att Han är GUD, och Han är den som kan ge oss liv genom att vi dricker av Hans vatten. Läs denna underbara dialog mellan en syndig kvinna och Jesus.

Johnannes 410 Jesus svarade henne: “Om du kände till Guds gåva och vem det är som säger till dig: Ge mig att dricka, då skulle du ha bett honom, och han skulle ha gett dig levande vatten.” 11 Hon sade: “Herre, inte ens en skopa har du, och brunnen är djup. Varifrån får du då det levande vattnet? 12 Inte är väl du förmer än vår fader Jakob, som gav oss brunnen och själv drack ur den, liksom hans söner och hans boskap?” 13 Jesus svarade henne: “Var och en som dricker av det här vattnet blir törstig igen. 14 Men den som dricker av det vatten jag ger honom skall aldrig någonsin törsta. Det vatten jag ger skall i honom bli en källa, som flödar fram och ger evigt liv.”15 Kvinnan sade till honom: “Herre, ge mig det vattnet, så att jag inte blir törstig och behöver gå hit och hämta vatten.

Jesus lovar oss att en källa av vatten kan flödar fram även i oss om vi dricker. Samma löfte kan vi se i Uppenbarelseboken. Vi är inte lovade att vi ska bli befriade från den kommande vedermödan under Antikrists välde, men vi har underbara löften som väntar oss om vi bevarar vår tro på Jesus. Den Heliga Ande är vår Hjälpare här på jorden tills vi tar emot vårt arv, och håller vi oss till Honom så får vi KRAFT att stå emot prövningar.

Upp. 7:13 En av de äldste frågade mig: “Dessa som är klädda i vita kläder, vilka är de och varifrån har de kommit?” 14 Jag svarade: “Min herre, du vet det.” Då sade han till mig: “Dessa är de som kommer ur den stora nöden, och de har tvättat sina kläder och gjort dem vita i Lammets blod. 15 Därför står de inför Guds tron och tjänar honom dag och natt i hans tempel, och han som sitter på tronen skall slå upp sitt tabernakel över dem. 16 De skall aldrig mer hungra eller törsta, inte heller skall solen eller någon annan hetta träffa dem.17 Ty Lammet som står mitt för tronen skall vara deras herde och leda dem till livets vattenkällor, och Gud skall torka bort alla tårar från deras ögon.”

De som tror på Jesus och älskar Honom får Anden som gåva och ur vårt innersta skall det strömma levande vatten! Men då måste vi komma till Jesus och intressera oss för att lära känna Honom. Det är inte HAN som har ett behov av att bli ärad, utan det är VI som vinner på att älska och ära Honom som så gärna vill ge oss LIV I ÖVERFLÖD. Han tänker dock inte tvinga det på oss utan VI måste komma till Honom. Livet på jorden är kort och vi lever inte i vårt permanenta hem. Det eviga livet har vi framför oss så låt oss tänka på våra själar.

John 7:37På den sista dagen, den största i högtiden, stod Jesus och ropade: “Om någon törstar, så kom till mig och drick! 38 Den som tror på mig, ur hans innersta skall strömmar av levande vatten flyta fram, som Skriften säger.” 39 Detta sade han om Anden, som de skulle få som trodde på honom. Ty Anden hade ännu inte blivit utgjuten, eftersom Jesus ännu inte hade blivit förhärligad.

Jesus anspelar här till det som skriften sagt om Honom som det livgivande vattnet, och det är taget från profeten Jesaja. Jesus menar alltså att Jesaja talar om Honom, och Jesaja 12:3 är en i raden av Messianska profetior.

Jesaja 12:2 Se, Gud är min frälsning,  jag är trygg och fruktar inte, ty Herren Herren är min starkhet och min lovsång. Han har blivit min frälsning.”3 Med fröjd skall ni ösa VATTEN ur frälsningens källor.4 På den dagen skall ni säga:  “Tacka Herren, åkalla hans namn,  gör hans gärningar kända bland folken. Förkunna att hans namn är upphöjt.5 Lovsjung Herren, ty han har gjort härliga ting. Låt detta bli känt över hela jorden.

Det finns även en speciell ritual under Lövhyddohögtiden där vatten hämtades från Siloakällan vid tempelberget och hälldes över altaret medan församlingen sjöng: “Ni skall ösa vatten med fröjd ur frälsningens källor”. Efter de sju dagarna kom den avslutande dagen (3 Mos 23:39-43) som även liknas vid en Sabbatsvila.

När vi beslutat oss för att lämna vårt gamla liv och i stället följa Jesus, så uppmanas vi att låta döpa oss i vatten. Det är också en bild av att vi i vattnet blir renade från våra synder och blir nya rena människor. Även Jesus lät döpa sig men Han hade förstås inga synder att bli renade ifrån. Han gjorde detta för att visa sin lydnad till Fadern och för att ge stöd åt det mönster Han vill att vi ska ta efter.

Jeremia 31:9 Gråtande skall de komma, men jag skall leda dem där de går bedjande fram. Jag skall föra dem till vattenbäckar på en jämn väg där de inte skall stappla. Ty jag är en fader för Israel, och Efraim är min förstfödde son.

Efesierbrevet säger att de som valt att tro är de utvalda, och vilka löftena gäller

Efesierbrevet 1

Eftersom det finns en del som tar Efesierbrevet som stöd för att Gud kastar tärning och på måfå väljer ut ett fåtal människor som föräras möjligheten att tro på honom så att de kan bli frälsta – och att han gjort detta val innan han lade världens grund – så vill jag gärna visa på vad Paulus faktiskt säger (och inte säger) i Efesierbrevet. Det är inte alls så att Gud väljer vem som ska komma till himmel/helvete oberoende av våra val, utan vi har alla möjligheten att bli frälsta. OM vi väljer att tro på honom och älska honom så finns det några fantastiska löften kopplade till det valet, eftersom Gud för länge sedan utvalt Kristi kropp att ärva hans rike. Frågan är om vi väljer att tillhöra Kristi kropp och därmed få en plats på skutan som är på väg till himlen? Skutan är absolut på väg dit, men är DU med på skutan, och väljer du att stanna på skutan tills den når slutdestinationen? Efesierbrevet handlar om de som är MED på skutan, och löftena gäller dem. Notera att de “utvalda” i Efesierbrevet 1-2 alltid handlar om plural eftersom det handlar om framtiden för Kristi kropp vilket alltid handlar om flera personer.

Alla brev i hela Nya Testamentet angår oss som lever idag, även om vi kan se att Paulus adresserar en viss kyrka eller grupp. Vi måste alltid ha i åtanke vem det är Paulus kommunicerar med så att vi förstår sammanhanget. Paulus börjar Efesierbrevet med att adressera kristna människor som därför är HELIGA. Vi är antingen syndare ELLER heliga, och är vi syndare har vi ingen del av Guds rike. Man brukar säga att man är “syndare frälst av nåd”, och det stämmer förstås, men om man är en syndare som omvänt sig och blivit renad i Jesu blod så är man inte längre en syndare utan en person som är helig och rättfärdig, och som Gud därför ser som fullkomlig. Om vi väljer att synda igen så är vi förstås inte längre heliga/rättfärdiga utan vi är återigen i behov av rening eftersom Gud definitivt SER våra synder:

Efesierbrevet 1: 1 Från Paulus, genom Guds vilja Kristi Jesu apostel, till DE HELIGA som bor i Efesus och som TROR på Kristus Jesus. —

När Paulus här talar om OSS så talar han om både judar och hedningar som är kristna. Paulus lägger ner ganska mycket tid i sina brev åt att försöka få judarna att förstå det här med frälsningen och att de INTE är på väg till Guds rike bara för att de är födda judar och “utvalda”, likaså att förklara det gudomliga i att hedningar har chansen att bli frälsta genom TRO. Det som Gud bestämt från världens grund är INTE vem han valt ska bli frälst respektive inte ska bli frälst, utan det som är bestämt är att de som är I HONOM (“OSS” i v.4) är utvalda att vara heliga och fläckfria inför Gud tack vare Jesu blod. Kravet är alltså att vi måste vara I HONOM för att kunna nå detta stadium eftersom det är GENOM HONOM som vi kan bli renade från våra synder och därmed FLÄCKFRIA. Notera alla de “genom honom” och “i honom” som står nämnda i verserna. Det som är förutbestämt är alltså att de som är I HONOM skall GENOM JESUS tas upp som hans barn. De som INTE är “i honom” är därmed INTE friköpta genom hans blod och alltså förlorade. Paulus talar om “oss” och “vi” – alltså de som är HELIGA, och det är dessa som löftena gäller:

3 Välsignad är vår Herre Jesu Kristi Gud och Fader, som i Kristus har välsignat oss med all den himmelska världens andliga välsignelse, 4 liksom han innan världens grund blev lagd har utvalt OSS I HONOM för att vi skulle vara heliga och fläckfria inför honom. 5 I sin kärlek har han GENOM JESUS KRISTUS förutbestämt att VI skulle tas upp som hans barn, enligt sin vilja och sitt beslut, 6 för att den härliga nåd som han har skänkt oss I den Älskade skall prisas. 7 I HONOM är vi friköpta genom hans blod och har förlåtelse för våra synder på grund av den rika nåd 8 som han har låtit flöda över oss, med all vishet och insikt. 

Hemligheten och planen är alltså att alla som valt att vara I KRISTUS ska få ta del av arvet, eftersom vi (församlingen) är förutbestämda till detta. Det är FÖRSAMLINGEN som är på väg till Guds rike och hans arv, och frågan är om vilka som väljer att ansluta. Villkoret är som alltid att vi måste vara I HONOM där frälsningen går att få. Notera att det står om människor som kommit till tro och som tagit emot den utlovade anden. Det är något som VI gör, och Gud gör det inte åt oss. Anden är en handpenning för oss, men precis som andra kontrakt så kan detta kontrakt brytas om vi inte följer avtalet. Om du köper en bil på avbetalning och slutar göra dina månatliga inbetalningar (som du skrivit under på att du ska göra) så kommer bilen till slut att beslagtas, trots att bilen en gång var i din ägo och du förfogade fritt över den:

9 Han har låtit oss få veta sin viljas hemlighet, enligt det beslut som han hade fattat i Kristus, 10 den plan som skulle genomföras när tiden var fullbordad: att I KRISTUS sammanfatta allt i himlen och på jorden. 11 I HONOM har vi också fått vårt arv, förutbestämda till det av honom som utför allt efter sin vilja och sitt beslut, 12 för att vi som har vårt hopp i Kristus skall prisa hans härlighet och ära. 13 I HONOM har också ni, sedan ni hört det sanna budskapet, evangeliet om er frälsning, ja, I HONOM har också ni, sedan ni kommit till tro, tagit emot den utlovade helige Ande som ett sigill. 14 Anden är en handpenning på vårt arv, att hans eget folk skall förlossas, för att hans härlighet skall prisas.

DE HELIGA kan förvänta sig arvet, och makten är stor bland OSS SOM TROR. FÖRSAMLINGEN är på väg till himlen:

—18 Jag ber att era hjärtan skall upplysas, så att ni förstår vilket hopp han har kallat er till och hur rikt på härlighet hans arv är bland de heliga, 19 och hur oerhört stor hans makt är i oss som tror, därför att hans väldiga kraft är verksam.— 22 Allt lade han under hans fötter,  och honom som är huvud över allting gav han åt FÖRSAMLINGEN, 23 som är hans kropp, fullheten av honom som uppfyller allt i alla.

Efesierbrevet 2 blood

Ef. 2 används ibland för att försöka påvisa att vi alla är födda som andligt döda, men så står det inte i texten. Hur blir vi andligt döda? Jo, genom överträdelser och synder. Vi vet sedan tidigare att synder alltid separerar oss från Gud, så det är förstås en dålig idé att synda. Hur blir vi då levande från vårt självvalda smutsiga liv? Jo, förstås genom Jesus Kristus som genom sitt blod kan rena oss från våra synder. Det hänger då på oss att komma till honom så att han kan rena oss. Paulus skriver till efesierna att de TIDIGARE levde på världens vis, och lägg märke till att för att kunna göra sådana överträdelser som beskrivs så måste vi först vara VUXNA. Bebisar kan inte välja att leva på världens vis, eller att följa härskaren över luftens välde och de kan inte antas vara olydnadens söner. Inte heller kan de följa sina syndiga begär och göra det som köttet och sinnet vill – som det står i v. 3. Ef. 2 handlar alltså INTE om hur vi är födda utan hur vi blir om vi väljer att förhärda våra hjärtan och leva ut våra synder och på så sätt platsa som olydnadens söner:

Efesierbrevet 2:1 Också er har Gud gjort levande, ni som var DÖDA GENOM ERA ÖVERTRÄDELSER OCH SYNDER.2 Tidigare levde ni i dem på den här världens vis och följde härskaren över luftens välde, den ande som nu är verksam i olydnadens söner. 

Vi är alltså inte FÖDDA som “vredens barn” (eller “hemfallna åt vredesdomen” som det står i 1917 års översättning). Varför skulle små oskyldiga bebisar vara hemfallna åt vredesdomen? Vad har Gud för skäl att vara VRED på små barn? Låt inte lura dig över att det står “barn”, för det är snarare vuxna som benämns som  “Guds barn” eller “Djävulens barn” beroende på deras val och beteende. Vi kan identifiera Guds barn (och Djävulens barn) genom att studera hur människor lever, så det är alltså vi själva som har makten att hamna i rätt grupp genom att undvika synd och leva rätt:

1 Joh. 3:7 Kära barn, låt ingen föra er vilse. Den som GÖR det rätta är rättfärdig liksom han är rättfärdig. 8 Den som gör synd är av djävulen, ty djävulen har syndat ända från begynnelsen. —9 Den som är född av Gud gör inte synd, ty Guds säd förblir i honom. Han kan inte synda, eftersom han är född av Gud. 10 På samma sätt är det uppenbart vilka som är Guds barn och vilka som är djävulens barn: den som inte gör det rätta, är inte av Gud, ej heller den som inte älskar sin broder.

Predikaren 7:30 Se, endast detta har jag funnit att Gud skapade människorna RÄTTSINNINGA. Men SEDAN har de tänkt ut många onda planer.

De som bokstavligt talat är fysiska barn tillhör alltid Gud och riskerar aldrig att förlora sina själar eftersom de inte kan se skillnaden mellan ont och gott och kan inte synda. De som av naturen är “vredens barn” är de som tagit för vana att synda så till den grad att synden blir ETT med deras liv och fullständigt naturligt för dem.  För en alkoholist kan det efter år av rus ses som fullständigt naturligt att dricka sig berusad, och denna vana i kombination med en vägran att omvända sig, har fått honom att till naturen vara ett vredens barn:

3 Bland dem var vi alla en gång, när vi följde våra syndiga begär och gjorde vad köttet och sinnet ville. Av naturen var vi vredens barn, vi liksom de andra.4 Men Gud som är rik på barmhärtighet har älskat oss med så stor kärlek, 5 också när vi ännu var DÖDA GENOM VÅRA ÖVERTRÄDELSER, att han har gjort oss levande tillsammans med Kristus. Av nåd är ni frälsta. —

Summerat kan vi se att vredens barn har kapacitet att välja nedanstående livsstil. De kan göra följande:

  • Välja att överträda Guds lag och synda
  • Välja att leva på världens vis
  • Välja att följa härskaren över luftens välde (Satan)
  • Välja att vara olydnadens söner (vara ohörsamma enligt 1917 års översättning)
  • Välja att vandra i sitt kötts begärelse (1917 års översättning)
  • Välja att göra vad köttet och sinnet vill
  • Ha ett behov av att levandegöras från sitt andligt döda tillstånd (vilket innebär att de tidigare var ofrälsta pga synder)

Alltså kommer inte bebisar och små barn på fråga i det här sammanhanget eftersom de omöjligt kan utföra någonting i denna lista. Sen kan vi läsa om människor som av naturen inte alls är “vredens barn” utan av naturen gör vad lagen befaller:

Rom. 2: 14 Ty när hedningar som saknar lagen, av naturen gör vad lagen befaller, då är de sin egen lag, fastän de inte har lagen. 15 De visar att det som lagen kräver är skrivet i deras hjärtan. Om det vittnar också deras samveten och, när de är tillsammans, deras tankar, som anklagar eller försvarar dem.

Sen kommer vi till den vers som förmodligen är den allra mest citerade i hela Bibeln, kanske för att vi så gärna vill höra att vi kan bli frälsta I våra synder – trots att det inte står så:

8 Ty av nåden är ni frälsta genom tron, inte av er själva, Guds gåva är det, 9 inte på grund av gärningar, för att ingen skall berömma sig. 

Det som är Guds gåva är möjligheten att bli frälst genom nåd. Vi är antingen frälsta genom lagen eller genom nåd. För att bli frälst genom lagen måste vi lyda den till punkt och pricka. Har vi gjort det? Nej. Alltså är vi frälsta av NÅD, och genom TRO – som är villkoret.  Att plötsligt börja göra goda gärningar kan alltså inte frälsa oss eftersom vi tidigare gjort oss skyldiga till synd. Inte heller är kravet att vi måste uppnå en viss grad av gärningar varje dag som ger oss poäng nog för att förbli frälsta. Nej, endast genom Jesus kan vi bli renade från vår tidigare synd. Betyder detta att vi inte längre riskerar våra själar om vi fortsätter att bryta tio Guds bud? Jo, det är precis lika viktigt som det alltid varit att lyda Gud, och synd separerar oss alltid från honom. Likaså är vi förlorade om vi är ljumma och inte kan visa gärningar med vår tro. Tro utan gärningar är död, och gärningar utan tro är också död. Vers 10 är inte alls lika ofta citerad, och den säger att det är tänkt att vi ska VANDRA i goda gärningar. Tror du att Gud tänker vandra i dessa gärningar åt dig? Nej, det är inte hans ansvar utan ditt, men vi kan inte göra någonting utan Jesus och behöver alltså vara I HONOM:

10 Ty hans verk är vi, skapade i Kristus Jesus till goda gärningar, som Gud har förberett, så att vi skall vandra i dem.11 Kom därför ihåg hur det var tidigare: ni var hedningar och kallades oomskurna av dem som kallar sig omskurna, med den omskärelse som utförs på kroppen med människohand.

Paulus fortsätter att berätta om de goda nyheterna om vad som kan åstadkommas GENOM Jesu blod, för alla – både judar och hedningar – som tror på honom. Det är genom blodet vi är renade och även förenade med varandra i Kristi kropp. Det handlar alltså om Kristi kropp och om församlingen som är Guds familj. De underbara löftena är alltså kopplade till församlingen som är utvald till arvet, men väljer DU att tillhöra församlingen? Du vet kravet…

12 Ni var på den tiden utan Kristus, utestängda från medborgarskapet i Israel och hade ingen del i förbunden med deras löfte. Ni levde utan hopp och utan Gud i världen. 13 Men nu har NI, SOM ÄR I KRISTUS JESUS och som en gång var långt borta, kommit nära genom Kristi blod. — 16 Så skulle han i en enda kropp försona de båda med Gud genom korset, sedan han där hade dödat fiendskapen. 17 Han har kommit och predikat frid för er som var långt borta och frid för dem som var nära. 18 Ty GENOM HONOM har vi båda i en och samme Ande tillträde till Fadern.19 Alltså är ni inte längre gäster och främlingar utan medborgare tillsammans med de heliga och tillhör Guds familj. 20 Ni är uppbyggda på apostlarnas och profeternas grund, där hörnstenen är Kristus Jesus själv. 21 Genom honom fogas hela byggnaden samman och växer upp till ett heligt tempel i Herren. 22 I honom blir också ni uppbyggda till en Guds boning genom Anden.

När vi talar om de “utvalda” kan vi gärna ha liknelsen i Matteus 22 i färskt minne. Den handlar om en Kung som bjuder in gäster till en bröllopsmiddag för sin son. Därifrån får vi den berömda frasen “många är kallade men få är utvalda”. De som är utvalda i liknelsen är de som frivilligt accepterar inbjudningen och som också kommer till festen – till skillnad mot andra som visserligen är med på gästlistan men som väljer att INTE komma trots att det är Kungens vilja. De UTVALDA är alltså utvalda för att de själva valt det genom att acceptera inbjudningen. Detsamma gäller oss. Vi kan själva placera oss bland de UTVALDA om vi väljer Gud och visar det i våra handlingar.

Gud Fader kallar sin son GUD i Hebreerbrevet 1, eftersom Jesus är GUD

Hebr. 1:8 Men om SONEN säger han: GUD, din tron står i evigheters evighet, och rättens spira är ditt rikes spira (SFB)

Hebr. 1:8 säger han om Sonen: »Gud, DIN TRON förbliver alltid och evinnerligen, och rättvisans spira är ditt rikes spira.9 Du har älskat rättfärdighet och hatat orättfärdighet; därför, O GUD, har din Gud smort dig med glädjens olja mer än dina medbröder»(1917)

Gud adresserar alltså sin son när han säger detta, och han kallar honom GUD! Den grekiska grundtexten medger ett par olika sätt att läsa texten; “Gud är din tron i evigheternas evighet… ” eller “Din tron Gud, står i evigheters evighet…” Om man bestämt sig för att Jesus inte KAN vara Gud så vill man förstås gärna välja det första alternativet och dessutom gärna UTESLUTA det andra pga det störande resultatet. Annars kommer man ju till slutsatsen att Jesus verkligen ÄR Gud och många sektmedlemmar anstränger sig hårt för att undvika allting som osar “Jesus är Gud”.  Det finns inga anledningar att tro att världens kunniga teologer, som i många fall också är experter på grekiska, har haft fel när de gjort sina översättningar. Det inte särskilt logiskt att säga “Gud är din tron” för Gud är inte en tron eller ett monument för Jesus, utan hans Fader och kollega i treenigheten. Dessutom så delar de samma tron.

  • Hebr. 1:8 Mas del Hijo dice: Tu trono, oh Dios, por el siglo del siglo (Reina Valera 1960)
  • Hebr. 1:8 Mais au sujet du Fils, il dit: Ton trône, ô Dieu, subsiste pour toute éternité (La Bible du Semeur)
  • Hebr. 1:8 aber von dem Sohn: ”Gott, dein Stuhl währt von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit (Luther Bibel 1545)

Hebr. 1:8 är en referens till psalm 45 med nästan samma ordalydelse, och där ser vi att det handlar om GUD:

Psalm 45:6 Skarpa är dina pilar, folk skall falla för dig, konungens fiender skall träffas i hjärtat.7 GUD (Elohim), DIN TRON står i evigheters evighet, ditt rikes spira är rättens spira.8 Du älskar rättfärdighet och hatar orättfärdighet. Därför, GUD (Elohim), har DIN GUD Gud (Elohim) smort dig med glädjens oljamer än dina medbröder. (SFB)

Psalmer reflekterar ofta sanningen med poetiska uttryck. Psalm 45 börjar med att adressera en Kung (vilket även Jesus är fast inte på ett jordiskt sätt) och fortsätter med att adressera GUD. Om det handlar om GUD i psalmen så borde samma ordalydelse i Hebr. 1 också handla om GUD, för ordalydelsen är märkbart likadan! Det är inte ovanligt att texter drar paralleller mellan olika personer, städer och länder och Hesekiel 28 är ett bra exempel på detta eftersom en sektion tydligt handlar om Satan, men ändå börjar kapitlet med att adressera Kungen av Tyrus. Hebréerbrevet är alldeles uppenbart adresserat till Jesus så därför kan parallellen dras att Psalm 45 handlar om Jesus som är GUD, och därför är detta en Messiansk psalm. Hela sammanhanget i Hebréerbrevet:

Hebr. 1:1 Sedan Gud (Theos) i forna tider många gånger och på många sätt hade talat till fäderna genom profeterna, 2 har han nu i den sista tiden talat till oss genom sin Son. Honom har han insatt till att ärva allting, och genom honom har han också skapat världen. 3 Sonen utstrålar Guds härlighet och uppenbarar hans väsen och uppehåller allt genom sitt mäktiga ord. Och sedan han utfört en rening från synderna, sitter han nu på Majestätets högra sida i höjden.4 Sonen är så mycket större än änglarna som det namn han har ärvt är förmer än deras.5 Till vilken av änglarna har Gud någonsin sagt: Du är min Son, jag har i dag fött dig? Eller: Jag skall vara hans Fader, och han skall vara min Son? 6 Och när han låter den Förstfödde träda in i världen, säger han också: Alla Guds änglar skall tillbe honom.7 Om änglarna säger han: Han gör sina änglar till vindar och sina tjänare till eldslågor.8 Men om Sonen säger han: Gud (Theos), din tron står i evigheters evighet, och rättens spira är ditt rikes spira.9 Du älskar rättfärdighet och hatar orättfärdighet. Därför, Gud (Theos), har din Gud (Theos) smort dig med glädjens olja mer än dina medbröder.10 Och: Du, Herre, har i begynnelsen lagt jordens grund, och himlarna är dina händers verk.11 De skall gå under, men du förblir. De skall alla nötas ut som en klädnad.12 Som en mantel skall du rulla ihop dem, och som en klädnad skall de bytas ut. Men du är densamme, och dina år har inget slut. 13 Till vilken av änglarna har han någonsin sagt: Sätt dig på min högra sida, tills jag har lagt dina fiender som en fotpall under dina fötter. 14 Är inte änglarna andar i helig tjänst, utsända för att tjäna dem som skall ärva frälsningen? (SFB)

Jämför gärna psalmen om Kungen och om Gud med drottning Sabas uttryck om Salomo:

2 Krön. 9: 8 Välsignad vare Herren, din Gud, som har funnit sådant behag i dig att han har satt dig på sin tron till att vara konung inför Herren, din Gud! Eftersom din Gud älskar Israel och vill hålla det vid makt till evig tid, därför har han satt dig till konung över dem, för att du skall skipa lag och rätt.”

Och Kung Davids nästan profetiska uttryck:

1 Krön. 28:5 Bland alla mina söner – för Herren har gett mig många söner – utvalde han min son Salomo till att sitta på Herrens kungatron och regera över Israel. 6 Han sade till mig: Din son Salomo är den som skall bygga mitt hus och mina förgårdar. Ty honom har jag utvalt till min son, och jag skall vara hans fader. 7 Jag skall befästa hans kungamakt FÖR EVIGT, om han står fast vid att följa mina bud och föreskrifter, som han nu gör. (+ 1 Krön. 29:22-25)

Nu är inte Salomo någon Gud (och det tråkiga med Salomo är att han förmodligen dog som en syndare ihop med sina ännu mer syndiga fruar) men det är en intressant jämförelse att denna Kung sattes på Herrens tron för att regera “för evigt” som Guds representant på jorden, liksom också Jesus sattes på Herrens tron för att regera för evigt. I Salomos fall så handlar det om att regera på jorden, och i Jesus fall så handlar det om att regera i Guds rike där även änglarna ska komma att TILLBE honom. I båda fallen så är denna upphöjelse och löfte om den eviga regenttiden kopplad till kravet att lyda bud och föreskrifter. Salomo gjorde det inte, men Jesus var lydig till döden på korset. Messias skulle komma från Davids blodslinje (och Salomo är pappa till David), och även David var ju en Kung som satt på tronen. Denna Kung i Ps. 45 med alla sina gudomliga uttryck, verkar vara en profetisk liknelse till den kommande Kungarnas Kung som skulle framträda många år senare i form av Jesus, Messias. Även Jahve kallas Kungarnas Kung. Kungen i Ps. 45 är en profetisk bild av den kommande SANNA regenten i form av Jesus, som inte har ett begränsat rike på jorden utan ett evigt i himlen.

Gud ENSAM är Gud, så hur kommer det sig då att även Jesus kallas Gud? Endast treenigheten löser detta! Vidare läser vi här nedan att ingen i skyn ens kan jämföras Gud Herren, och VEM i all världen är honom lik? Absolut INGEN enligt psalmerna! Ändå läser vi i Hebr. 1:3 att Jesus är “hans väsens avbild” som 1917 säger. Antingen innehåller psalmerna och boken Jesaja lögner, eller också är Jesus Gud och ingår i samma treenighet:

Ps. 89:4 “Jag har slutit ett förbund med min utvalde, med ed har jag lovat min tjänare David:5 Din ätt skall jag låta bestå för evig tid och bygga din tron från släkte till släkte.” Sela.6 Himlarna prisar dina under, Herre, och din trofasthet i de heligas församling.7 Ty vem i skyn kan jämföras med Herren? Vem bland Guds söner är Herren lik?

Ps. 86:10 Herre, ingen är dig lik bland gudarna, inga gärningar är som dina. 9 Alla folk som du har gjort  skall komma och tillbe inför dig, Herre, de skall ära ditt namn. 10 Ty du är stor och du gör under. DU ENSAM ÄR GUD.

Bortförklaringar – vem helst kan kallas GUD så det betyder inget att Jesus kallas GUD i Hebr 1

Om vi ständigt och jämt stöter på gudar i vår vardag så borde det väl tydliggöras när det är just skaparguden i Bibeln som uttrycker sig? Men i själva verket så är det sällan något problem att förstå vilken Gud som uttrycker sig eftersom vi har lärt oss att det endast finns EN Gud allena och då borde det givetvis vara den Guden som det handlar om såvida ingenting annat tydligt sägs. De enda gångerna som några människor frågar sig “vilken Gud handlar det om egentligen?” så verkar det ENDAST röra just de verser där JESUS påstås vara GUD! Inga andra verser ifrågasätts! Men om vi ser i Hebr. 1 så kopplas flera gudomliga attribut till Jesus som GUD, och dessa attribut kan absolut inte kopplas till vanliga människor som fått auktoritet av Gud att utföra hans domar. Hebr 1 säger att Jesus är Gud och att han:

  1. ärver allting
  2. utstrålar Guds härlighet
  3. uppenbarar hans (Guds) väsen
  4. uppehåller allt genom sitt ord
  5. renar människor från synden
  6. är större än änglarna (trots att vi kan läsa i Fil. att han är lägre än änglarna som människa på jorden)
  7. skall TILLBES av änglarna (endast GUD ska vi tillbe säger Bibeln uttryckligen)
  8. har en tron som står i evigheters evighet
  9. har en rättens spira som är sitt eget rikes spira (attribut som tydligt kopplas till GUD i GT)
  10. älskar rättfärdighet och hatar orättfärdighet (uttryck ofta kopplat till Gud)
  11. kallas GUD och är SMORD
  12. kallas HERRE (även Herrarnas Herre på andra ställen, som också Gud kallas)
  13. har I BEGYNNELSEN lagt jordens grund och skapat himlarna MED SINA EGNA HÄNDER (trots att vi kan läsa i GT att Gud ENSAM skapat jorden och himlarna och att INGEN var med honom)
  14. är densamme och hans år tar inte slut

Detta är knappast något man kan säga om någon annan människa på jorden – inte ens Moses! Gud Fader kallar sin son Gud för att han ÄR Gud, och för att han har alla attribut som skaparguden har!

Gud skapade hela världen ensam och med sina egna händer – och Jesus också!jorden

Vi vet att Gud inte delar sin ära med någon (Jesaja 42:8) så varför ger han så mycket ära och makt åt sonen? Notera också denna ordalydelse från Hebr. 1., vilket är en referens till nedan psalm med nästan exakt samma ordalydelse. Även denna psalm talar om GUD som lade jordens grund och skapade allting med sina egna händer. Om denna ordalydelse handlar om GUD i psalmen så borde exakt samma ordalydelse också handla om GUD i Hebr. 1, men ändå kopplar Gud Fader detta med JESUS. Kan vi tro på det Gud säger, eller menar vi att han har fel som gör sonen till GUD?:

Hebr. 1:10 Och: Du, Herre, har i begynnelsen lagt jordens grund, och himlarna är dina händers verk.*) 11 De skall gå under, men du förblir. De skall alla nötas ut som en klädnad.12 Som en mantel skall du rulla ihop dem, och som en klädnad skall de bytas ut. Men du är densamme, och dina år har inget slut.

*) Ps. 102:25 Jag sade: MIN GUD tag inte bort mig mitt i livet, dina år varar från släkte till släkte. 26 För länge sedan lade du jordens grund, himlarna är dina händers verk. 27 De skall gå under, men du förblir. De skall alla nötas ut som en klädnad, du skall förvandla dem som man byter kläder, och de försvinner. 28 Men du är densamme och dina år har inget slut.

Det är också värt att nämna vad  Jesaja säger

Jesaja 44:24 Så säger Herren, din återlösare,  han som format dig alltifrån moderlivet: Jag, Herren, är den som har gjort allt, den som ENSAM har spänt ut himlen och brett ut jorden. Vem var med mig?

Jesaja 42: 5 Så säger Gud, Herren,  han som har skapat himlen och spänt ut den, han som har utbrett jorden med allt som växer där,han som har givit liv åt folket som bor där och ande åt dem som vandrar på den.

Kol. 1:13 Ty han har frälst oss från mörkrets välde och försatt oss i sin älskade Sons rike.14 I honom hava vi förlossningen, förlåtelsen för våra synder,15 i honom som är den osynlige Gudens avbild och förstfödd före allt skapat. 16 Ty i honom skapades allt i himmelen och på jorden, synligt såväl som osynligt, både tronänglar och herrar och furstar och väldigheter i andevärlden. Alltsammans har blivit skapat genom honom och till honom.17 Ja, han är till före allt annat, och alltsammans äger bestånd i honom. 

Om vi kan läsa verser precis som det står så finns det ingen anledning att krångla till det och riskera att hamna i bibelmotsättningar. Om Gud Fader kallar sin son för GUD, kan vi lita på det eller måste vi anstränga oss för att hitta alternativa översättningar som ger ett annat mera önskvärt resultat? Varför kämpa emot Bibelns klara budskap att Jesus är Gud, som alltid funnits tillsammans med Fadern i treenigheten, och som valde att födas i mänskligt kött och dö som ett syndoffer för oss?

2 Johannesbrevet 1:7 Ty många villolärare hava gått ut i världen, vilka icke bekänna att Jesus är Kristus, som skulle komma i köttet; en sådan är Villoläraren och Antikrist.

Jesus lät sig TILLBES, och lärde oss att tillbe och tjäna endast GUD

“Tillbe” är översatt från det grekiska ordet proskyneó (Strong’s 4352). Även om “tillbe” är den vanligaste översättningen så kan ordet även ha betydelse att gå ner på knä inför någon och visa aktning/vördnad. Sammanhanget hjälper till att se betydelsen. Det vore oärligt att översätta ordet med “tillbe” varje gång det handlar om Gud Fader och till “falla ner inför” varje gång det handlar om Jesus. Då har man ju bestämt sig på förhand att manipulera texten så att den stämmer överens med det resultat man vill ha.

KJV översätter ordet med: worship (60 gånger).

NASB: worship (32), worshiped (17), worshipers (1), worshiping (1), worships (1), bow down (1), bow down before (1), bowed down (1), bowed down before (2), bowing before (1), bowing down (1), prostrated himself before (1)

Trots att “proskyneó” står i relation till Jesus i 25% av gångerna i Jehovas Vittnen engelska Bibel (The New World Translation) så har översättarna valt att inte översätta ordet med “tillbe” en endaste gång. Om ordet däremot kan läsas i relation till djävulen, demoner, avgudar etc, så har de valt att översätta exakt samma ord med “tillbe”!  Detta är inget ärligt sätt att översätta Bibeln på!

“Herren, din Gud, skall du tillbe, och endast honom skall du tjäna”

Jesus ger inte något erbjudande att man kan tillbe någon annan än just Gud. Så varför låter han sig så ofta tillbes om han inte vore Gud? För att Gud vill lura oss att tro att Jesus är Gud fastän han inte är det?

Matt. 4:9 Och han sade: “Allt detta vill jag ge dig, om du faller ner och tillber mig.” 10 Då sade Jesus till honom: “Gå bort, Satan! Ty det står skrivet: Herren, din Gud, skall du tillbe, och endast honom skall du tjäna.”

Lukas 4:8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

När Jesus nämnde “Det står skrivet”, så syftar han på nedanstående bud från Gud, där tillbedjan står i relation till Gud.

5 Mos. 6:13 Herren, din Gud, skall du frukta, honom skall du tjäna, och vid hans namn skall du avlägga din ed. 14 Ni skall inte följa andra gudar, någon gud som dyrkas av de folk som bor runt omkring er, 15 ty en nitälskande Gud är Herren, din Gud, i din mitt. Se därför till att inteHerrens, din Guds, vrede blir upptänd mot dig och han utrotar dig från jordens yta.

I Gamla Testamentet så används “tillbe” många gånger i relation till Gud (översatt från hebreiska), med upprepade varningar till Israel att inte tjäna andra Gudar. ”Tillbe” och ”tjäna” används både ihop och separat, och oavsett vilket så är orden starkt förknippade med Gud.

2 Mos. 34:14 Du skall inte tillbe någon annan gud, ty Herren heter Nitälskare. En nitälskande Gud är han.

5 Mos. 30:17 Men om ditt hjärta vänder sig bort och du inte vill höra, och om du blir förledd och tillber andra gudar och tjänar dem,

Daniel 3:14 sade Nebukadnessar till dem: “Är det sant att ni, Sadrak, Mesak och Abed-Nego, inte dyrkar mina gudar och inte tillber den staty av guld som jag har låtit ställa upp?—28 Nebukadnessar tog då till orda och sade: “Lovad vare Sadraks, Mesaks och Abed-Negos Gud, som sände sin ängel och räddade sina tjänare. De förtröstade så på honom att de överträdde kungens befallning och vågade sina liv för att inte tvingas dyrka eller tillbe någon annan gud än sin egen Gud.

Apg. 7:41 Och de gjorde vid den tiden en kalv och bar fram offer åt avguden och jublade över sina händers verk. 42 Men Gud vände sig bort från dem och utlämnade dem till att dyrka himlens här, så som det står skrivet i profeternas bok: Bar ni väl fram åt mig slaktoffer och andra offer under de fyrtio åren i öknen, ni av Israels hus? 43 Nej, ni bar med er Moloks tält och guden Romfas stjärna, de bilder som ni hade gjort för att tillbe. Men jag skall föra er bortom Babylon.

Det är tänkt att vi ska tillbe honom som skapat himmel, jord och hav. Vem är det? Gud (Yahweh) har självfallet gjort allt detta (alldeles själv, och ingen var med honom enligt Bibeln), men även Jesus skapade allting med sina egna händer. Det enda sättet att förklara detta och inte göra Gud till en lögnare, är att acceptera Bibelns klara budskap att Jesus är Gud.

Upp. 14:7 Han sade med hög röst: “Frukta Gud och ge honom äran, ty stunden för hans dom har kommit. Tillbe honom som har skapat himlen och jorden, havet och vattenkällorna.”

Hebr. 1:8 Men om Sonen säger han: Gud, din tron står i evigheters evighet,och rättens spira är ditt rikes spira. 9 Du älskar rättfärdighet och hatar orättfärdighet.Därför, Gud, har din Gud smort dig med glädjens oljamer än dina medbröder.10 Och: Du, Herre, har i begynnelsen lagt jordens grund,och himlarna är dina händers verk.

Kol. 1:16 Ty i honom skapades allt i himlen och på jorden, det synliga och det osynliga, tronfurstar och herradömen, makter och väldigheter. Allt är skapat genom honom och till (KJV BY HIM) honom.17 Han är till före allting, och allt består genom honom. 18 Han är huvudet för sin kropp, församlingen. Han är begynnelsen, den förstfödde från de döda, för att han i allt skulle vara den främste. 19 Ty Gud beslöt att låta hela fullheten bo i honom

Anti-trinitianer kanske insisterar på att Jesus inte skulle tillbe någon Gud om han vore Gud själv, men då har de inte förstått den klassiska treenighetsläran. Jesus var också människa som vi, och han kommunicerade med sin Fader genom bön och tillbedjan. Joh. 17: 5 Fader, förhärliga nu mig med den härlighet som jag hade hos dig innan världen var till.— 24 Fader, jag vill att där jag är, där skall också de som du har gett mig vara med mig, så att de får se min härlighet som du har gett mig, eftersom du har älskat mig innan världens grund var lagd.

Att tillbe andra människor eller saker är att bryta mot det första budet; att inte ha några andra Gudar än Gud

Apg. 7:43 Nej, ni bar med er Moloks tält och guden Romfas stjärna, de bilder som ni hade gjort för att TILLBE. Men jag skall föra er bortom Babylon.

Upp. 16:2 Och den förste gick bort och tömde sin skål över jorden, och onda och svåra bölder slog upp på de människor som hade vilddjurets märke och som tillbad dess bild.

Upp. 19:20 Och vilddjuret greps tillsammans med den falske profeten, som hade gjort tecken inför vilddjuret och genom dessa tecken vilselett dem som hade tagit emot vilddjurets märke och tillbett dess bild. Levande kastades de båda i eldsjön som brinner av svavel.

Om Jesus inte är Gud kan man undra varför han lät sig tillbes så många gånger, och varför han ingen gång korrigerade alla de som tillbad honom genom att förklara det olämpliga i att tillbe en vanlig människa. Det hade definitivt fått alla treenighetstroende att tänka till. INGEN GÅNG grep Jesus in och talade människor tillrätta. Man kan säga, att för en person som säger att vi endast ska tillbe GUD så tillbes han själv ofantligt mycket! Betyder det att Jesus är en hädare och en hycklare (och lögnare) ELLER betyder det att han faktiskt är GUD?

De vise männen tillbad Jesus vilket var listigt av dem eftersom vi kan läsa om denne furste att han var Mäktig Gud samt andra gudomliga namn. Ett litet barn kan inte ens uppfatta att någon faller ner och visar vördnad, så även detta talar för att de vise männen faktiskt föll ner inför honom för att TILLBE – där åldern inte spelar någon roll.

Mat. 2:2 När Jesus var född i Betlehem i Judeen på kung Herodes tid, se, då kom visa mänfrån Östern till Jerusalem 2 och frågade: “Var är judarnas nyfödde konung? Vi har sett hans stjärna gå upp och har kommit för att TILLBE honom.” — 8 Sedan skickade han dem till Betlehem och sade: “Gå och sök noga efter barnet, och när ni har funnit det, underrätta mig, så att även jag kan komma och TILLBE det.” —11 Och de gick in i huset och fick se barnet med Maria, dess mor. Då föll de ner och TILLBAD det, och de tog fram sina skatter och överlämnade gåvor till barnet: guld, rökelse och myrra. 

Jes. 9:6 Ty ett barn blir oss fött,  en son blir oss given. På hans axlar vilar herradömet, och hans namn är: Under, Rådgivare, Mäktig Gud, Evig Fader, Fridsfurste.7 Så skall herradömet bli stort och friden utan slut över Davids tron och hans kungarike.

Jes. 7:14 Därför skall Herren själv ge er ett tecken: Se, jungfrun skall bli havande och föda en son och hon skall ge honom namnet Immanuel.

Matt. 14:33 Och de som var i båten TILLBAD honom och sade: “Du är verkligen Guds Son.”

Matt. 28:9 Och se, Jesus kom emot dem och hälsade dem. Och de gick fram och fattade om hans fötter och TILLBAD honom.

Matt. 28:16 De elva lärjungarna begav sig till det berg i Galileen dit Jesus hade befallt dem att gå.17 Och när de såg honom, TILLBAD de honom, men andra tvivlade. 18 Då trädde Jesus fram och talade till dem och sade: “Jag har fått all makt i himlen och på jorden.

Lukas 24:50 Sedan förde han dem ut till Betania, och han lyfte sina händer och välsignade dem.51 Och medan han välsignade dem, skildes han från dem och blev upptagen till himlen.52 De TILLBAD honom och vände tillbaka till Jerusalem i stor glädje. 53 Och de var alltid i templet och prisade Gud.

Joh. 9:35 Jesus fick höra att de hade drivit bort honom, och när han fann honom sade han: “Tror du på Människosonen?” 36 Han svarade: “Vem är han, herre? Tala om det så att jag kan tro på honom.” 37 Jesus sade: “Du har sett honom. Den som talar med dig, han är det.” 38 Då sade mannen: “Jag tror, Herre.” Och han TILLBAD honom.

Hebr. 1:6 Och när han låter den Förstfödde träda in i världen, säger han också: Alla Guds änglar skall tillbe honom.

Upp. 5:12 Och de sade med hög röst: “Lammet, som blev slaktat, är värdigt att ta emot makten, rikedomen och visheten, kraften och äran, härligheten och tacksägelsen.” 13 Och allt skapat i himlen och på jorden och under jorden och på havet, ja, allt som finns i dem hörde jag säga: “Honom som sitter på tronen, honom och Lammet, tillhör tacksägelsen och priset, äran och makten i evigheternas evigheter.” 14 Och de fyra väsendena sade: “Amen”. Och de äldste föll ner och tillbad.

Upp. 7: De stod inför tronen och inför Lammet, klädda i vita kläder och med palmblad i händerna. 10 Och de ropade med hög röst: “Frälsningen tillhör vår Gud, honom som sitter på tronen, och Lammet.” 11 Och alla änglar stod runt omkring tronen och kring de äldste och de fyra väsendena, och de föll ner på sina ansikten inför tronen och tillbad Gud.

Upp 11: 16 Och de tjugofyra äldste som satt på sina troner inför Gud, föll ner på sina ansikten och tillbad Gud 17 och sade:—18 Folken vredgades, och din vredes dag har kommit, tiden när de döda skall dömas och när du skall löna dina tjänare profeterna och de heliga och dem som fruktar ditt namn, små och stora, och då du skall fördärva dem som fördärvar jorden. (Notera att denna beskrivning av Gud passar perfect in på Jesus som ska döma jorden.)

Det finns även andra ställen där “proskyneó” används men där den svenska översättningen (till skillnad mot andra översättningar såsom KJV) valt att nöja sig med att “falla ner inför” även om även detta är ett tecken på tillbedjan av Gud. 

Mat. 8:2 Då kom en spetälsk fram och föll ner (worshiped KJV) för honom och sade: “Herre, om du vill, kan du göra mig ren.

Mat. 9:18 Medan Jesus talade till dem, kom en synagogföreståndare och föll ner (worshiped KJV) för honom och sade: “Min dotter har just dött. Men kom och lägg din hand på henne, så får hon liv igen.”

Mat. 15:24 Han svarade: “Jag är sänd endast till de förlorade fåren av Israels hus.” 25 Men hon kom och föll ner (worshiped KJV) för honom och sade: “Herre, hjälp mig!”

Matt. 18:25 Eftersom han inte kunde betala, befallde hans herre att han och hans hustru och barn och allt vad han ägde skulle säljas och skulden betalas. 26 Tjänaren föll ner för honom och bad (worshiped KJV): Ha tålamod med mig, så skall jag betala dig alltsammans. (A parable where the King is a picture of the Father.)

Mat. 20:20 Modern till Sebedeus söner gick då fram till Jesus tillsammans med sina söner. Hon föll på knä (worshiped KJV) och ville be honom om något. 21 Han frågade henne: “Vad vill du?” Hon sade till honom: “Lova att mina båda söner här får sitta bredvid dig i ditt rike, den ene på din högra sida och den andre på din vänstra.

Mark. 5:6 När han nu på långt håll fick se Jesus, sprang han fram och föll ner (worshiped KJV) för honom 7 och skrek: “Vad har jag med dig att göra, Jesus, den högste Gudens Son? Jag besvär dig vid Gud: Plåga mig inte!”

Upp. 3:8 Jag känner dina gärningar. Se, jag har låtit en dörr stå öppen för dig, en dörr som ingen kan stänga, ty din kraft är ringa och du har hållit fast vid mitt ord och inte förnekat mitt namn. 9 Se, jag överlämnar åt dig några från Satans synagoga, några som säger att de är judar men inte är det utan ljuger. Jag skall få dem att komma och falla ner inför dina fötter (worshiped KJV), och de skall förstå att jag har dig kär.

Andra ställen där ordet översätts med TILLBE

Joh. 4:19 Kvinnan sade: “Herre, jag märker att du är en profet. 20 Våra fäder har tillbett på detta berg, och ni säger att den plats där man skall tillbe finns i Jerusalem.” 21 Jesus svarade: “Tro mig, kvinna, den tid kommer, då det varken är på detta berg eller i Jerusalem som ni skall tillbe Fadern. 22 Ni tillber vad ni inte känner. Vi tillber vad vi känner, eftersom frälsningen kommer från judarna. 23 Men den tid kommer, ja, den är redan här, då sanna tillbedjare skall tillbe Fadern i ande och sanning. Ty sådana tillbedjare vill Fadern ha. 24 Gud är ande, och de som tillber honom måste tillbe i ande och sanning.”

Hebr. 11:19 Abraham räknade med att Gud hade makt till och med att uppväcka från de döda. Därifrån fick han honom också tillbaka, bildligt talat.20 I tron gav Isak sin välsignelse åt Jakob och Esau för kommande tider. 21 I tron välsignade den döende Jakob var och en av Josefs söner och tillbad, lutad mot änden av sin stav. 

Om någon faller på knä inför våra fötter som ber vi väl dem att stiga upp? Dock inte Jesus…worship 3

Om någon skulle falla ner och tillbe och prisa oss så skulle förmodligen den vanliga reaktionen vara en känsla av obehag (eftersom vi vet att vi inte är någon Gud som ska tillbes) samt att be personen sluta och resa upp honom. Exakt den reaktionen visade också PETRUS och ängeln som Johannes tillbad. De förklarade också varför – Petrus för att han är en vanlig människa, och ängeln för att han är en vanlig medtjänare. Så Petrus och Ängeln reagerade som man kan förvänta sig, så varför gjorde inte Jesus det? Förmodligen för att han är GUD och därför förtjänar att tillbes. Varför skulle de flesta Bibelöversättare ha fel? För att det inte passar in med det önskade resultatet?

Apg. 10:25 När Petrus skulle gå in, kom Kornelius emot honom och föll ner för hans fötter och TILLBAD. 26 Men Petrus reste honom upp och sade: “Stig upp! Också jag är en människa.” 

Upp. 19:10 Jag föll då ner för hans fötter för att tillbe honom, men han sade till mig: “Gör inte det! Jag är bara en medtjänare till dig och dina bröder, som har vittnesbördet om Jesus. Gud skall du tillbe. Ty Jesu vittnesbörd är profetians ande.”

Upp. 22:8 Det är jag, Johannes, som har hört och sett detta. Och när jag hade hört och sett det, föll jag ner för att tillbe framför fötterna på ängeln som hade visat mig detta. 9 Men han sade till mig: “Gör inte det! Jag är tjänare liksom du och dina bröder profeterna och de som håller fast vid orden i denna bok. Gud skall du tillbe.”

Jesus säger som sagt att vi endast ska tillbe GUD, men Gud Fader själv säger att JESUS ska tillbes när han träder in i världen. Antingen har en utav dem fel, eller också är Jesus GUD och det är därför som han ska tillbes:

Hebreerbrevet 1:6 Och när han låter den Förstfödde träda in i världen, säger han också: Alla Guds änglar skall tillbe honom.

Lustigt nog så har även Vakttornet (som ändrar sig då och då) erkänt att Jesus tillbads, även om de felaktigt menar att Jesus är en Gud bland flera:

“The fact that our Lord received worship is claimed by some to be an evidence that while on earth he was God the Father disguised in a body of flesh and not really a man. Was he really worshiped, or is the translation faulty? Yes we believe our Lord Jesus while on earth was really worshiped, and properly so. While he was not the God, Jehovah, he was a God. The word ‘God’ signifies a ‘mighty one,’ and our Lord was indeed a mighty one. So it is stated in the first two verses of the gospel of John. It was proper for our Lord to receive worship in view of his having been the only begotten of the Father. . .” (The Watchtower, July 15, 1898, p. 216.)

Om vem som helst kan tillbes för att det anses som vanlig respekt så kan man fråga sig varför Jesus, Petrus och ängeln Gabriel inte verkar ha känt till detta när de menar att vi endast ska tillbe Gud, och varför Jesus gick emot sitt eget förbud och lät sig tillbes?

1 Krön 29:20 ärefter sade David till hela församlingen: “Lova HERREN, ER GUD” Då lovade hela församlingen HERREN, sina fäders GUD, och de bugade sig och föll ner för HERREN och för kungen. 21 Dagen därefter slaktade de slaktoffer åt HERREN och offrade brännoffer åt HERREN: —- 22 De åt och drack med stor glädje inför HERRENS ansikte den dagen, och för andra gången gjorde de Salomo, Davids son, till kung.

Ovan skriftställe är alltså det som Jehovas Vittnen brukar använda för att komma bort från det faktum att JESUS TILLBES i massor av Bibelställen. We are told to beware of false prophets

Galatians 1:8-9: But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!

Matt. 7:15Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

1 John 4:Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Also after the death of Jesus we can read about prophesies, and we are told that prophesying is a gift of the Holy Spirit which we should all seek to get. Anyone can get this gift. When Luke wrote Acts he used the word “prophet” for someone who made prophesies:

Acts 11:27 And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.28 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.

Acts 21:10 And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus.11 And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles

Acts 15:32 And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.

It’s rather likely that these prophets lived also when Jesus and John the Baptist were still alive (John the Baptiste, who was another prophet) and if they had the gift of prophesying they apparently didn’t lose this gift when John and Jesus died since they were still called “prophets” in Acts. Anyone who comes along claiming to be a prophet has to be put to the test. Moreover, it doesn’t make much sense to label a person a “prophet” today when the generation of John and Jesus died out, since we have the Comforter who dwells inside us, which is the Holy Spirit and our GUIDE. We also have the both the old and the new testament to correct us:

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (The comforter is the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.)

Hebr. 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds

3 things can be 1  (trinity)

1) Add 3 piles of sand together. What do you have now? 1 pile of sand, right? And yet the size of the material remains the same.

2) Separate 1) egg-shell, 2) egg white and 3) egg yolk and place them in different locations in your kitchen. You can still call all these 3 units for 1. You can also mix the 3 units together and make 1 egg nog and pour it out in 3 different cups. You can still say that it’s 1 egg.

3) The universe consists of 1) matter, 2) space and 3) time. Remove one of these three, and you don’t have a universe.

4) Watch a pot of boiling water. You can see steam coming out of it, and the hood over the stove might get wet and be covered with small drops. If you would place the wet hood in the freezer, the drops would turn to ice. You have different variations of water which you can keep together or separate, but it’s still water – H2O. If you take the hood out of the freezer and let the ice melt, you can collect the water and pour it back into the pot. So out of 1 unit of H2O you can get 1) liquid, 2) steam and 3) ice.

Also in the Quran we can read that Allah is shown as a fire in the bush, calling for Moses. Apparently also the Quran suggests that Allah shows up in different forms just like the Biblical God. If Allah according to the Quran can appear as a fire and still be considered as ONE God, why is it difficult to accept that the Biblical God can appear as a fire, a son or a spirit and still be ONE God?

1. Allah called to Moses from a bush on the right side of the valley and said, “O Musa, surely I am Allah, the Lord of the worlds. Cast down your staff” (28:30-31). 2. When Moses approached the burning bush he heard a voice say, “Blessed is whoever is in the fire and whatever is around it and glorified be Allah, the Lord of the worlds. O Moses! Lo! It is I, Allah, the mighty, the wise. Throw down your staff” (27:7-10). 3. The voice said, “Moses, I, even I, am your oming so believers must not follow their evil desires or they will be destroyed. What do you have in your hand? Moses replied that he had a rod that he uses to rest on, prepare food for the sheep and other purposes. Allah said, toss it Moses” (20:11,19).

What is the trinity?

When discussing with muslims the arguments are usually the same. “The trinity is not found in the Bible. How can three persons be in one God? Jesus did not really die on the cross. If Jesus died on the cross, then christians must believe that GOD died and God cannot die. God doesn’t have a son. The Bible is corrupt”, etc. Muslims basically trust what they have been told by other muslims and they believe christians are deceived. Many muslims are not that religious, but they would still regard themselves as muslims “by birth”, and therefore expect also christians to be christians “by birth”. If they are not able to answer a certain proposed contradiction, they are convinced that one of their more learned religious leaders WILL be able to, and live on this hope.

Many of them have difficulties grasping the trinity. But ask yourself this: Is God able to be in any shape he wants? If God wants to be a flower, a fire, a square or a trinity, can he do this, or does he have to ask us for permission first? Surely we must accept that a sovereign God can be in any shape he likes, and that being a trinity is NOT too difficult for GOD? He might have god reasons for wanting to be a trinity, and the Bible explains what those reasons are.

Muslims often start out with saying that they DO know what the trinity is, but they soon reveal that they in reality do not. The common mistake is of course that they make efforts to show that Jesus is not the Father, but christians don’t believe Jesus is his own Father. The Bible explains that the trinity consists of three separate persons who are in the same godhead.

The trinity consists of 1) The Father, 2) The son Jesus Christ and 3) The Holy Spirit. Three separate persons but in the same trinity. The Bible is VERY clear that God is ONE. The three persons in the trinity always move to the same direction and have the same mind.

Jesus didn’t come into the world the first time when he was born of Mary. Jesus has always existed with the Father. Both the Father and son call themselves the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. The trinity with the three persons has always existed and always will. However, Jesus IN FLESH came through Mary about 2,000 years ago. Jesus was born as a human being with the mission to die for us, and while he lived on earth he showed that he was the promised Messiah. Isaiah said about 800 years before Jesus was born, that “Mighty God” would be born by a virgin. Everything is created by, through and for Jesus, and the Bible says that nothing existed before Jesus. When Jesus died on the cross, God the Father did NOT die. It was the Jesus Christ IN FLESH which “died”, but remember that Death could not keep him! He rose again the third day.

Bible verses – the trinity in the Bible

It’s true that the word “trinity” is not in the Bible, but neither is the word “monotheism”. Where does it say the word “trinity” must be found in the Bible before we can accept it as true? Here are SOME verses which show Jesus deity:

Hebrews 1:8, the Father declares of Jesus, “But about the Son He says, ’Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.’

John 20:24-29 Thomas said to him, ‘My Lord and my God!’ Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’

Hebrews 2:7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:— 9But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

John 10:30-33 : I and the Father are one.’ Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus said to them, ‘I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?’ ‘We are not stoning you for any of these,’ replied the Jews, ‘but for blasphemy,because you, a mere man, claim to be God.

Colossians 2:9 In Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily

Romans 9:5 Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of Christ, who is God over all, forever praised

John 8:40, 58 I tell you the truth, before Abraham was born, I am!

John 1:1, 14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shallbe upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.    

John 9:35-39 “Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and having found him he said, ‘Do you believe in the Son of man?’ He answered, ‘And who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?’ Jesus said to him, ‘You have seen him, and it is he who speaks to you.’ He said, ‘Lord, I believe’; and he WORSHIPED HIM. ” 

Matthew 16:27-28 For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done.

Col. 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the reeminence.19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

God is love

The Biblical God tells us to treat others the way we would like to be treated ourselves, and we are asked to pray for our enemies. If your God tells you to harm or kill others for the only reason that they disagree with you, then run for your life to another direction, because you are worshiping a false God.

Turn the other cheek … love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. (Matthew 5:39, 44)

Put back your sword in its place … for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. (Matthew 26:52)

Mistakes and inconsistencies in the Quran

I’m not going to list all numerous errors and inconsistencies here (just make a search on the net) but here are a couple of examples:

The Samaritans are said to have built the golden calf during the time of Moses, yet at that time there was no place called Samaria or race called Samaritans.

The Quran states that the Blessed Mary, mother of Jesus, was the sister of Aaron, yet the Bible reveals that Miriam was the sister of Aaron and Moses.

The only way out of this dilemma is for Muslims to claim that the Jews and Christians have changed the Bible. But if you ask for examples, they can’t give you any. If you ask WHEN this happened (before or after Muhammed lived) they are not sure of this either. They believe that the Bible has changed, because this is what other muslims have always told them.

Muhammed marrying a 6-year-old girl

The fact that Muhammed married a 6-year-old girl (Aisha) and consummated the marriage when she was 9 is of course troublesome for muslims, but since they are trained to ALWAYS defend Muhammed regardless of what he is guilty of, they will always excuse him. The most common excuse is that girls matured faster during this time, but of course there is NO historical evidence for this and this idea is clearly invented for the only reason to excuse Muhammed. Girls did not mature any faster during Biblical times so why would we believe this changed a few hundred years later, when Muhammed entered the scene? There is NO indication of that girls were mature enough to get married at 6-9 during any time in world’s history. Isn’t this a time when girls should play with dolls? What benefit would a 6-year-old girl get from a marriage? Muhammed is supposed to be perfect in all his ways, and we are to take after him as a role model, so why don’t all muslims take after his practice to marry children? Some muslims DO in fact marry children. Are we to view them as particularly faithful to Muhammed? Had the Quran said that Muhammed married a 4 year old girl, the excuses would be the same,“Girls matured faster in those days”.

According to official Sunni Muslim sources, Muhammad married Aisha when he was around 50 and when she was around 6. Muhammad consummated the marriage to Aisha approximately four years later, or in the second year of his arrival to Medina when the latter was nine years old. In most cases puberty for girls starts at the age of 12, and it is rare for girls to attain puberty prior to that period. There is even data to support the position that specific cultures placed the age of marriage at a little over 12 years of age for this reason. Even if a girl has attained puberty faster does not mean that she is physically ready to consummate a marriage. Moreover, morality does not change over time. Neither should muslims excuse Mohammed by suggesting that “this was the tradition during that time”.  Not only was it NOT a common tradition during this time, but shouldn’t a perfect prophet always be up to date and act correctly no matter which era in lived in? He is supposed to be our example, and now Muhammed is promoting child marriage. When a lawmaker says that killing someone in self-defense is acceptable, the lawmaker must not go out and kill someone in self-defense if his law is to stand. Hence, the argument that Muhammad needed to marry a young girl to establish puberty as the appropriate age for marriage completely fails.

Narrated Ursa:
The Prophet asked Abu Bakr for ‘Aisha’s hand in marriage. Abu Bakr said “But I am your brother.” The Prophet said, “You are my brother in Allah’s religion and His Book, but she (‘Aisha) is lawful for me to marry.” (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 18)

Narrated Hisham’s father:
Khadija died three years before the Prophet departed to Medina. He stayed there for two years or so and then he married ‘Aisha when she was a girl of six years of age, and he consumed that marriage when she was nine years old. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 58, Number 236)

Muhammad died when Aisha was eighteen years old, leaving her a childless widow for the rest of her life. Being childless is regarded as a curse in most cultures. Muhammad also passed on a command forbidding anyone from marrying any of his widows:

Surah 33:53 O ye who believe! Enter not the Prophet’s houses, – until leave is given you, – for a meal, (and then) not (so early as) to wait for its preparation: but when ye are invited, enter; and when ye have taken your meal, disperse, without seeking familiar talk. Such (behaviour) annoys the Prophet: he is ashamed to dismiss you, but God is not ashamed (to tell you) the truth. And when ye ask (his ladies) for anything ye want, ask them from before a screen: that makes for greater purity for your hearts and for theirs.Nor is it right for you that ye should annoy God’s Apostle, or that ye should marry his widows after him at any time. Truly such a thing is in God’s sight an enormity. 

Other young girls and the “waiting period”

When Muhammad came to Medina in the year 623 AD, a girl named Safiyyah was young: perhaps in her mid to late teens, when Muhammad married her. Muhammad died in 632 AD, or roughly two years after marrying Safiyyah. One Muslim website says that she was seventeen when Muhammad married her, meaning that she was roughly twenty when he died. Muhammed  not only took Safiyyah as his wife after killing her family and husband, but he also left her a young widow for the rest of her life!

The waiting period for divorced women who haven’t yet menstruated is three months. With other words these “women” are in fact young girls who haven’t reached puberty! Thus, Islam permits men to marry prepubescent girls and even divorce them if they so choose! A woman can only be divorced if she is married and had her marriage consummated since the Quran expressly teaches that there is no waiting period for marriages that have not been consummated:

 Surah 65:4 And (as for) those of your women who have despaired of menstruation, if you have a doubt, their prescribed time shall be three months, and of those too who have not had their courses; and (as for) the pregnant women, their prescribed time is that they lay down their burden; and whoever is careful of (his duty to) Allah He will make easy for him his affair.

Surah 33:49 O you who believe: When you marry believing women and then divorce them before you have touched them, no period of idda (waiting) have you to count in respect of them: so give them a present and set them free in a graceful manner. 

And for those who have no courses (i.e. they are still immature). And the ‘Iddat for the girl BEFORE PUBERTY is three months (in the above Verse). (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 63)

While we were sitting in the company of the Prophet a woman came to him and presented herself (for marriage) to him. The Prophet looked at her, lowering his eyes and raising them, but did not give a reply. One of his companions said, “Marry her to me O Allah’s Apostle!” The Prophet asked (him), “Have you got anything?” He said, “I have got nothing.” The Prophet said, “Not even an iron ring?” He said, “Not even an iron ring, but I will tear my garment into two halves and give her one half and keep the other half.” The Prophet; said, “No. Do you know some of the Quran (by heart)?” He said, “Yes.” The Prophet said, “Go, I have agreed to marry her to you with what you know of the Qur’an  (as her Mahr).”

Upon a divorce, it’s the MAN who decides who the children will belong to. A man is also promised 70 virgins in God’s kingdom. Women are not promised the equivalent, and in islam men and women are not treated equally either on earth or in the next life.

Surah 4:34 Husbands should take full care of their wives, with [the bounties] God has given to some more than others and with what they spend out of their own money. Righteous wives are devout and guard what God would have them guard in the husbands’ absence. If you fear high-handedness from your wives, remind them [of the teaching of God], then ignore them when you go to bed, then hit them. If they obey you, you have no right to act against them. God is most high and great. 

Surah 2:223 Your women are your fields, so go into your fields whichever way you like . . . .

Surah 2:282 The Prophet said, “Isn’t the witness of a woman equal to half of that of a man?” The women said, “Yes.” He said, “This is because of the deficiency of a woman’s mind.” 

Surah 4:24 And forbidden to you are wedded wives of other people except those who have fallen in your hands (as prisoners of war) . . .

Surah 4:3 And if you be apprehensive that you will not be able to do justice to the orphans, you may marry two or three or four women whom you choose. But if you apprehend that you might not be able to do justice to them, then marry only one wife, or marry those who have fallen in your possession. 

Surahs promoting violence

Dr. Muhsin Khan the translator of Sahih Bukhari and the Qur’an into English
writes: “Allah revealed in Sura Bara’at (Repentance, IX) [the order to discard
(all) obligations (covenants, etc), and commanded the Muslims to fight against
all the Pagans as well as against the people of the Scriptures (Jews and
Christians) if they do not embrace Islam, till they pay the Jizia (a tax levied on
the Jews and Christians) with willing submission and feel themselves subdued
(as it is revealed in 9:29). So the Muslims were not permitted to abandon “the
fighting” against them (Pagans, Jews and Christians) and to reconcile with them
and to suspend hostilities against them for an unlimited period while they are
STRONG and have the ability to fight against them. So at first “the fighting” was
forbidden, then it was permitted, and after that it was made obligatory “

How do you distinguish an evil man and a holy man if not by their actions? Jesus warned people of  false prophets and he said you will recognize them by their fruits. Muhammed’s evil actions speak for themselves. Unfortunately, muslims overlook his deeds because they are convinced he was a prophet of God. Are raiding innocent people, massacring unarmed civilians, stealing their belongings, taking their women and children as slaves and raping them a good thing? Muhammed did all those things. He even signed peace treaties, only to break them when he willed.  The sura 9 is called bara’a, precisely because in this sura Allah orders Muhammad to break all his treaties. The non-Muslims had no intentions of waging war against him but he took them by surprise and raided them when they were least expecting. These were shamelessly coward attacks on civilians. Muhammad raped women captured in his raids and allowed his followers to do the same. (Q. 4:24) There was a massacre of the Jewish tribe of Bani Quraiza that has been described in detail in dozens of traditions and books of history written by Muslims themselves. The Quran encourages Muslims to slay the unbelievers wherever they find them (2:191), to not take them as friends and helpers (3:28), fight them and show them harshness (9:123), and smite their heads ( 47:4).

People who call themselves “christians” and who harm and kill others do so AGAINST the Bible, whereas muslims who do the same do so ACCORDING to the Quran.  All the wars and hostilities that Muhammed was engaged in were initiated by himself and his followers just as the Muslims today are the initiators of virtually all hostilities with others. According to the doctrine of abrogation, the later texts supersede the earlier whenever there are inconsistencies. The later suras always abrogate ALL the earlier suras!

Surah 9:29  Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the Religion of truth, from among the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued 

Surah 48:29 Muhammad is the messenger of Allah; and those who are with him are harsh against unbelievers, (but) compassionate amongst each other?

Surah 5:51 Don’t take Jews and Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them

Surah 2:191 And slay them (the infidels) wherever you catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out, for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter

Surah 2:193 And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and Faith in Allah; but if they cease, let there be no hostility except to those who practise oppression. 

Surah 2:216 Fighting is prescribed for you, and you dislike it. But it is possible that you dislike a thing which is good for you, and that you love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knows, and you know not 

Surah 4:74 Let those fight in the cause of Allah who sell the life of this world for the Hereafter. To him who fighteth in the cause of Allah, whether he is slain or gets victory soon shall we give him a reward of great (value) 

Sura 4:89 Seize them and slay them wherever you find them: and in any case take no friends or helpers from their ranks.

Surah 4:95 Allah has granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit at home

Surah 9:5 But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular Prayers and practise regular Charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful

Surah 9:123 Oh you who believe! Murder those of the disbelievers and let them find harshness in you. 

Surah 9:14 Fight them, and Allah will punish them by your hands, cover them with shame.

Surah 9:66 Make no excuses: you have rejected Faith after you had accepted it. If We pardon some of you, We will punish others amongst you, for that they are in sin. 

From Hadeeth:
Ibn Ishaq and al-Waqidi report that the prophet said the morning after the murder (of Kab Ibn al’Ashraf), “Kill any Jew you can lay your hands on.” (El beddayah wa alnihaya – Ibn Katheer – vol. 4 – in the chapter on killing Ka’ab bin al’Ashraf)

Gen. 16:11And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction. 12And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

Gen. 17: 19And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.

Gen. 21: 10Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac. 11And the thing was very grievous in Abraham’s sight because of his son.12And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called. 13And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed.

Gen. 22:2And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.  3And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.— 12And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.16And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: 17That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; 18And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

Jesus is recorded to have performed many miracles in the Bible as well as the Quran, but not so with Muhammed

Muhammed feels that he doesn’t need to prove that he is a prophet in any other way than saying that the Quran was being revealed to him from Allah. Unfortunately, many others make similar claims and we certainly couldn’t believe that all who say they are prophets are true prophets. Jesus warned about false prophets deceiving millions.

Surah 29:48-51 Not before this didst thou recite any Book, or inscribe it with thy right hand, for then those who follow falsehood would have doubted. Nay; rather it is signs, clear signs (ayatun bayyinatun) IN THE BREASTS of those who have been given knowledge; and none denies Our signs but the evildoers. They say, ‘Why have signs (ayatun) not been sent down upon him from his Lord?’ Say: ‘The signs (al-ayatu) are only with God, and I am only a plain warner.’ What, is it not SUFFICIENT for them that We have sent down upon thee the Book that is recited to them? Surely in that is a mercy, and a reminder to a people who believe. 

Apart from the above claim, splitting the moon is the only other option which could serve as a “miracle”. Can you imagine how this earth would look like if it had two moon halves? Splitting the moon is hardly scientific, and it’s hard to see the purpose. People around Muhammed had the right to see some tangible signs/miracles, because we certainly can’t believe every chap who claims to be a prophet. If sura 54:1-2 speaks about an ordinary lunar eclipse, then Muhammed wouldn’t be the source of that.

Sura 54:1-2 The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say ‘A continuous sorcery!’ 

Jesus birth was a miracle in itself. Muhammed’s birth was not a miracle. According to the Bible Jesus birth by a virgin was supposed to be a sign for the Messiah (Isaiah 7:14). What would be the reason for a virgin birth according to the Quran?

Surah 19:20-21 She said: “How shall I have a son, seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?” He said: “So (it will be): Thy Lord saith, ‘that is easy for Me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us’: It is a matter (so) decreed.”

Surah 21:91 And (remember) her who guarded her chastity: We breathed into her of Our spirit, and We made her and her son a sign for all peoples. 

According to the Quran, Jesus spoke from the cradle. Muhammad likely copied the miracle of infant Jesus’ speech from an apocryphal writing named “The Arabic Gospel of the Savior” and combined it with the data he had plagiarized from the Gospel of Pseudo-Matthew:

Surah 43:63 When Jesus came with Clear Signs, he said: “Now have I come to you with Wisdom, and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) on which ye dispute: therefore fear God and obey me. 

Surah 5:110 O Jesus, son of Mary! Remember My favour unto thee and unto thy mother; how I strengthened thee with the holy Spirit, so that thou spakest unto mankind in the cradle as in maturity; and how I taught thee the Scripture and Wisdom and the Torah and the Gospel; and how thou didst shape of clay as it were the likeness of a bird by My permission, and didst blow upon it and it was a bird by My permission, and thou didst heal him who was born blind and the leper by My permission; and how thou didst raise the dead, by My permission;…

Two miracles are omitted from this list but found in other places in the Quran: causing a table spread with food to be miraculously lowered from heaven for his disciples (5:112-115), and being able to tell people what they had hidden in their houses (3:49).

The Quran is supposed to confirm the Bible, so the Bible couldn’t have changed before Muhammed’s time

Surah 3:50-52  And (I come) confirming that which was before me of the Torah, and to make lawful some of that which was forbidden unto you. I come unto you with a sign from your Lord, so keep your duty to Allah and obey me. Lo! Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path. But when Jesus became conscious of their disbelief, he cried: Who will be my helpers in the cause of Allah? The disciples said: We will be Allah’s helpers. We believe in Allah, and bear thou witness that we have surrendered (unto Him).

Surah 61:6 And when Jesus son of Mary said: O Children of Israel! Lo! I am the messenger of Allah unto you, confirming that which was (revealed) before me in the Torah, and bringing good tidings of a messenger who cometh after me, whose name is the Praised One. Yet when he hath come unto them with clear proofs, they say: This is mere magic. 

Surah 5:46 And We caused Jesus, son of Mary, to follow in their footsteps, confirming that which was (revealed) before him in the Torah, and We bestowed on him the Gospel wherein is guidance and a light, confirming that which was (revealed) before it in the Torah – a guidance and an admonition unto those who ward off (evil).  

Is the Torah true only when it agrees with the Quran, and how can we be certain that this is the correct way to look at it? Maybe it’s not a good idea to trust a weak god (Allah) who is not able to protect the other messages he sent. He already failed three times to protect his messages before the Quran. Proving that the Bible is corrupt does not automatically mean that the Quran is preserved; on the contrary it proves that Allah is not mighty enough to preserve all of his revelations. Why is Allah NOW able to protect the Quran and preserve it? An attack on the Bible is nothing more than an attack on Muhammed, indirectly accusing Muhammad of being a liar or mistaken. The very same passage that speaks of Muhammad receiving revelation like some of the messengers before him, also says that there are many other messengers that are not even mentioned in the Quran!

Surah 4:163-164 We have revealed to thee as We revealed to Noah, and the Prophets after him, and We revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, Jesus and Job, Jonah and Aaron and Solomon, and We gave to David Psalms, and Messengers We have already told thee of before, and Messengers We have not told thee of; and unto Moses God spoke directly —

Surah 40:78 We sent Messengers before thee; of some We have related to thee, and some We have not related to thee. It was not for any Messenger to bring a sign, save by God’s leave. When God’s command comes, justly the issue shall be decided; then the vain-doers shall be lost. 

The Quran itself commands Muslims to consult the Holy Bible for evidence and verification ( surahs 10:94; 16:43; 17:101; 21:7.)

Surah 5:47-51 It was We who revealed the Law to Moses, therein was guidance and light … and in their footsteps, We sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming the Law that had come before him: We sent him the Gospel, therein was guidance and light, and confirmation of the Law that had come before him, a guidance and admonition to those who fear Allah. To thee (Mohammed) We sent the Scripture that came before it, and guarding it in safety.

Surah 45:16-17 We have given the Children of Israel the scripture, wisdom, and prophethood, and provided them with good provisions; we bestowed upon them more blessings than any other people. We have given them herein clear commandments. Ironically, they did not dispute this until the knowledge had come to them. This is due to jealousy on their part. Surely, your Lord will judge them on the Day of Resurrection regarding everything they have disputed. 

Surah 7:157 those who follow the Messenger, ‘the Prophet of the common folk, whom they find written down WITH THEM in the Torah and the Gospel, … 

Surah 48:29 Muhammad is the Messenger of God, and those who are with him are hard against the unbelievers, merciful one to another. Thou seest them bowing, prostrating, seeking bounty from God and good pleasure. Their mark is on their faces, the trace of prostration. That is their likeness in the Torah, and their likeness in the Gospel: as a seed that puts forth its shoot, and strengthens it, and it grows stout and rises straight upon its stalk, pleasing the sowers, that through them He may enrage the unbelievers. God has promised those of them who believe and do deeds of righteousness forgiveness and a mighty wage. 

These verses take for granted that a true, uncorrupt Gospel was available for examination at the time of Muhammed. Some Muslim commentators even suggest that the source for the above parable is actually Mark 4:27-28! How would Christians of the seventh century have understood the Quran’s clear statements that they were to uphold the Gospel which was with them? Would they have assumed that this Gospel was something other than the four canonical Gospels which they had?

Surah 26:196 And it is surely mentioned in the Psalms of the FORMER PEOPLES. 

Addressing the Christians of Muhammad’s time the Quran’s author exhorts them to uphold the Gospel which Jesus received.

Surah 4:54 Or are they jealous of the people for the bounty that God has given them? Yet We gave the people of Abraham the Book and the Wisdom, and We gave them a mighty kingdom. 

The historical evidence shows that the Torah which was in the possession of both the Jews and Christians is actually the first five Books of the Hebrew Bible, and the Gospel of the Christians is the records of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.  The Quran also refers to the Psalms which were given through David and the other messengers.

Surah 6:73, 84-90 So We were showing Abraham the kingdom of the heavens and earth, that he might be of those having sure faith… And We gave to him Isaac andJacob — each one We guided, And Noah We guided before; and of his seed David and Solomon, Job and Joseph, Moses and Aaron — even so We recompense the good-doers — Zachariah and John, Jesus and Elias; each was of the righteous; Ishmael and Elisha, Jonah and Lot-each one We preferred above all beings; and of their fathers, and of their seed, and of their brethren; and We elected them, and We guided them to a straight path. That is God’s guidance; He guides by it whom He will of His servants; had they been idolaters, it would have failed them, the things they did. THOSE ARE THEY TO WHOM WE GAVE THE BOOK, the Judgment, THE PROPHETHOOD; so if these disbelieve in it, We have already entrusted it to a people who do not disbelieve in it. Those are they whom God has guided; so follow their guidance. Say: ‘I ask of you no wage for it; it is but a reminder unto all beings.’ 

Surah 19:30, 34, 41, 49-58 He said, ‘Lo, I am God’s servant; God has given me the Book, and made me a Prophet… That is Jesus, son of Mary, in word of truth, concerning which they are doubting… And mention in the Book Abraham; surely he was a true man, a Prophet… So, when he went apart from them and that they were serving, apart from God, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each We made a Prophet; and We gave them of Our mercy, and We appointed unto them a tongue of truthfulness, sublime. And mention in the Book Moses; he was devoted, and he was a Messenger, a Prophet. We called to him from the right side Of the Mount, and We brought him near in communion. And We gave him his brother Aaron, of Our mercy, a Prophet. And mention in the Book Ishmael; he was true to his promise, and he was a Messenger, a Prophet. He bade his people to pray and to give the alms, and he was pleasing to his Lord. And mention in the Book Idris; he was a true man, a Prophet. We raised him up to a high place. These are they whom God has blessed among the Prophets of the seed of Adam, and of those We bore with Noah, and of the seed of Abraham and Israel, and of those We guided and chose. When the signs of the All-merciful were recited to them, they fell down prostrate, weeping. 

Surah 5:71-72. ‘O, People of the Book! Ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord.’ It is the revelation that cometh to thee from thy Lord, that increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy … those who believe (in the Qur’an), those who follow the Jewish (Scriptures), and the Sabaeans and the Christians – any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness, – on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.  

Surah 5:69 If only they had stood fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that was sent to them from their Lord, they would have enjoyed happiness.

Surah 29:45 Dispute not with the People of the Book, save in the fairer manner, except for those of them that do wrong; and say: ‘We believe in what has been sent down to us, and what has been sent down to you; Our God and your God is One and to Him we have surrendered. 

Surah 10:37 This Qur’an could not have been forged apart from God; but it is a confirmation of what is before it …

Surah 46:11 Before it was the Book of Moses for a model and a mercy; and this is a book confirming in Arabic tongue to warn the evil-doers and good tidings to the good-doers.

Surah 6:91 Who sent down the Book that Moses brought as a light and guidance to men? You put it onto parchments, revealing some, and hiding much; and by which you were taught that you knew not, you and your fathers. Say, ‘God”.

Surah 35:31 And what We have revealed to thee of the Book, is the truth, confirming what is before it.

Sura 2:40-42 Children of Israel … believe in that I have sent down, confirming the revelation that is with you and be not the first to disbelieve in it … and do not confound the truth with vanity and do not conceal the truth wittingly (i.e. concealing the truth against better knowledge)

The above texts presuppose that the Torah was available in an unadulterated form during the time of Mohammed.

Surah 2:87 We gave Moses the Book and followed him up with a succession of Apostles. We gave Jesus, son of Mary, clear signs and strengthened (or confirmed) him with the Holy Spirit. 

Surah 2:89 And when there comes to them (the Jews) a Book from Allah, confirming what is with them (the Taurat) … they refused to believe in it.

Surah 3:3 He has sent down upon thee the Book with the truth, confirming what was before it and He sent down Torah and the Gospel afore time, as guidance to the People and He sent down salvation.

At least as early as 350 AD, and long before the time of Mohammed, there was a uniform canon of the Bible and nothing has been changed, adulterated, polluted or perverted since.

Sura 21:7 Before thee (i.e. Mohammed), also, the Apostles we sent were but men … If you realise this not, ASK of THOSE WHO POSSESS THE MESSAGE. 

Sura 4:136 BELIEVE IN Allah and His Messenger and the Scripture which He hath revealed unto his Messenger, and THE SCRIPTURE WHICH HE REVEALED AFORETIME. WHOSO DISBELIEVETH IN Allah and His Angles and the Last Day, he verily hath wandered far astray.

Sura 2:285 Each one believeth in Allah and His Angels and His Scriptures and His Messengers – WE MAKE NO DISTINCTION BETWEEN ANY OF HIS MESSENGERS.

Sura 3:93 Say: Bring you the Torah now and recite (or read) it, if you are men of truth

We see clearly that the accusations against Jews and Christians are not that they have corrupted Scripture, but that they have misinterpreted, concealed or disobeyed it.

Sura 6:34 There is none that can change the Words of Allah. Already hast thou received some account of those Apostles (or: the other Apostles also say so).

Muhammed spoken about in the Bible?

Deuteronomy 18:15 The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own brothers. You must listen to him.

Muhammed was not a “brother” to the jews. Besides, also other cults (like the mormons) claim that their particular prophet is spoken about in this verse.

ISLAM is much like the story of Emperor’s new clothes. The con artists claimed that if someone wouldn’t detect the beauty of the Emperor’s new clothes they were simply stupid, and who wants to be labeled stupid? So despite the fact that people couldn’t even see any clothes, they overlooked this problem and convinced themselves that the clothes were beautiful and even gave remarks as a confirmation of this. The crowd encouraged each other to believe in a lie, and did so until an honest little boy declared the TRUTH which was apparent to all from the start. Muslims need much prayer and there is much joy in heaven each time a muslim repents from his past and become a Bible believing christian.
